  • A Benckmarking study of On-Shore Wind Turbines

This study involves benckmarking of On-Shore Wind Turbines using Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) and information visuzaliation methodologies. The main aim of this project is to determine the most efficient wind turbines, also to improve the inefficient wind turbines by referencing the efficient ones. We first gathered data from the world's top 10 wind turbine manufacturing companies , with respect to market share and delivered capacity. Using the technical specifications of wind turbines, we…

Using the technical specifications of wind turbines, we conducted a data envelopment analysis using DEA Solver (software, developed in Sabanci University), and visually examined the efficiency scores via yEd software. This research is presented in Turkish Operations Research and Industrial Engineering Congress (YAEM) 2011, in Sakarya University, Sakarya, Turkey, and a more detailed analysis (with more data and more graphical visualizations) is presented in YAEM 2012, Dogus University, Istanbul, Turkey, both by myself and Ece Kurtaraner.

  • ORBIT’20 Online Conference

    -

Othership (formerly WeCoffee) is a startup connecting freelancers, solopreneurs and remote workers with casual co-working spaces and a community of like-minded peers via monthly membership packages.

They needed an initiative that would add a different type of value to their membership and build a strong sense of togetherness while apart. A way to replicate the feeling and the invaluable takeaways and connections of their in-person events. This is how the Orbit20 journey…

This is how the Orbit20 journey started.

Othership partnered with me to consult on, design and execute the conference that was going to reconnect and inspire members, existing and new, in the online environment, within 3 months.

The conference ran for 3 days, to deliver maximum value to members, with a mix of a panel, 11 skill-shares and 5 networking events.

Partners included General Assembly, Startups Magazine and SeedLegals to boost event awareness and credibility.

In addition to recognised thought leaders, I invited speakers from Othership’s own membership, to give back to key figures in the community.

I extensively researched the online conference platform options to find function and form that aligned with Othership’s requirements.

I collaborated with founders and creatives to deliver the event branding, promotional campaign and campaign assets across email, web, social and Eventbrite.

In the live phase, I provided co-hosting and operational support to ensure transitions were smooth and tech problems were solved swiftly.

The attendee numbers were compelling with more than 700 total registrations and an average of 40 attendees per session.

Numbers are far from the only measure of success, especially for community events. Orbit20 forged stronger relationships between Othership and its event partners and Othership were able to reinvigorate and re-engage their community in a time of uncertainty.

  • "Interactive Ports Map" application

    -

We created an intercorporate website and a mobile application format for executive managers of Yılport. This application allows users to easily see the owned/managed port locations in a world map, and when clicked on the desired location, they can see a summary of the port's physical features and current situation.

I was mostly involved with the coordination of the project and creation of the database for contents, while Ezgi was involved with providing communication with software…

I was mostly involved with the coordination of the project and creation of the database for contents, while Ezgi was involved with providing communication with software developers and a UI design for the application.

Unfortunately, I can't provide a link to the finished product due to corporate data privacy.

  • A crowdsourcing Project in Industrial Engineering Education: "IE Formulas" Mobile Application

    -

Crowdsourcing project is a relatively novel approach in project management. The main advantage is that the project process is being distributed to seperate sources in parallel, thus progress speed increases and duration of the project decreases. Some examples are open source softwares and Wikipedia. In this project, "IE Formulas" Mobile Application (Android) which was developed in Sabancı University's Freshman Project Course (PROJ 102) as an example of crowdsourcing. In this project, firstly…

Some examples are open source softwares and Wikipedia. In this project, "IE Formulas" Mobile Application (Android) which was developed in Sabancı University's Freshman Project Course (PROJ 102) as an example of crowdsourcing. In this project, firstly industrial engineering formulas are extracted from various course books (such as Operations Research, Advanced Engineering Economics, Mathematical Statistics with Applications, etc.). Then, these formulas are computerized and built in the mobile Android application. This project is presented in Turkish Operations Research and Industrial Engineering Congress (YAEM) 2012, Dogus University, Istanbul.
