Today I came across the term "entropy." It basically carries numerous meanings within multiple contexts. However, its definition and uses in marketing are very different. Entropy is mainly used to measure the randomness or diversity of data to make more accurate and informative decisions. It measures the purity of information. In modern marketing, it is basically used for customer segmentation, A/B testing, customer journey analysis, churn prediction, ad targeting, and email marketing. As per my practical knowledge while doing email marketing, entropy can be used to analyze open and click-through rates. High entropy in these metrics might indicate inconsistent engagement, prompting a need for more personalized email content to increase predictability and engagement rates.
