Calling all Techy Canadians Working Abroad! 👩💻🇨🇦🍁 Are you a Canadian working in tech in Silicon Valley, Austin, or somewhere else abroad? Are you thinking perhaps it’s time to come home to Canada, but can’t find the right opportunity? We will soon be announcing paid residency positions to work with some of Canada’s top business, AI, and HCI leaders to build your (funded) startup right here at home as part of a large and vibrant community of innovators. If this is calling to you, drop me a message for more information ahead of the public announcement.
I know some people sort of "stuck but making a lot of money" down south. Opportunity has to be phenomenal as our $ is currently hovering around ~.70 of a USD. Last time I left Canada for the US to work there (back in 1998), our Can $ was in the 65 cent range. When I came back to Canada, I took a 50% paycut......I wouldn't do that again. So these days, I would say that the opportunity has to be very, very compelling as 4 years will go by v. quickly, if that's the only reason.
This is super exciting, however, there are so many talented techies out there in Canada who can’t find a job, why can’t we connect these talented people with appropriate opportunities in Canada?
Would be interested to know what this program entails from a policy perspective; who funds it, etc. Is there a website or is this only in an early ideation stage?
This is interesting Daniel Wigdor Curious to see how it goes. I know many Canadians in the Bay area
Hi Daniel Wigdor: Thanks for sharing this. I'd be curious to learn more about the residency design / prerequisites esp. not just for the classic Silicon-Valley tech. talent but also one of my profile w. more multilateral tech. policy exp. having worked within + with international actors e.g. the UN, EC, etc.? Would be interested to know whether the firms you're in discussion with may also value this kind of background on roles concerning public policies or int. affairs. Thanks.
This project is a game-changer! It's initiatives like this that will not only attract top talent back to our country, but also create an environment where they can thrive and stay. I will dm you!
Thank for this announcement. As a post grad Canadian student soon graduating from Europe coming back home to Canada with the current economic challenges seems debatable. Looking for miracles that ease the transition back to Canada

Canadian businesses will find it challenging to match Silicon Valley salaries just putting it out there :) But being a Enterprenur is a different experience and Canada need more Enterprenurs
