We are working together with Vertical Future to understand how plants can grow in high carbon dioxide environments, such as are found on space stations. P4S CI Prof Harvey Millar gives a great summary of the project in this Ten Perth report 🌱 👨🚀
The ARC Centre of Excellence in Plants for Space UWA Node is one of the three Australian universities putting plants in space through Axiom Space with funding from the UK International Bilateral Fund. In this project the team will be exploring just how plants can grow in high CO2 environments such as space stations. Thanks to Ten Perth for this great report featuring Professor Harvey Millar 🍀🚀! I am thrilled to have finished this new course offered by UNODC on "Introduction to Space Economy". The course gave me a comprehensive understanding of the economic aspects of outer space activities. Topics covered include the legal framework of space economy, space debris mitigation, financing space projects, and the role of international organizations such as the United Nations in regulating space activities from an economic perspective.

"Session 10: Europe’s Role in Shaping the Future of Space: Leveraging strengths for global leadership" - " Europe has always been at the forefront of advocating for best practices in various critical aspects of space activities, notably in areas such as safety, security, sustainability, and international cooperation. In the current, increasingly complex, strategic and vulnerable environment both in space and on Earth, promoting these core values and principles is not only essential for fostering responsible space exploration but can also be a key element in promoting Europe as a credible leader in the global space ecosystem. Against the backdrop of the EUSL but also looking more broadly at the way in which Galileo and Copernicus have developed as global benchmarks and are used by international partners all over the world, and at how ESA has collaborated with international partners in multiple areas, including in space exploration and scientific missions; this session will look at key European strengths, and at how these can be leveraged to foster international partnerships and position Europe as a global partner in the international space field. Radian Aerospace on the current state of the space economy While government contracts can be lucrative, Radian designed its model to thrive on private capital, sidestepping the unpredictability of government funding. However, with the rapid expansion of the global space economy and increasing geopolitical tensions, demand for sovereign space programs is rising—creating new opportunities for government partnerships. As competition in space intensifies, blending private capital with strategic public funding might be key to securing long-term growth.
