Did you know 75% of Main Streets are bisected by a state highway? Neither did I. Main Street communities are our gateways to outdoor recreation, and chances are your community is struggling to improve walking and biking safety or address the state highway that inevitably cuts through your downtown. Eden planning Natural England is on a mission to protect, restore and enhance our natural world. 🌏 Eden has played a part in this mission by successfully demonstrating very special circumstances to secure planning permission for a new reserve base building at Lower Derwent, located in York’s Green Belt. We worked with Natural England to gain significant support for the project by informing the community of the proposals and the benefits. The project provides state-of-the-art lab space for research into species and habitats across the National Nature Reserve. It helps preserve and enhance this valuable landscape in the long term. Natural England’s vision is to place National Nature Reserves, such as Lower Derwent, at the heart of nature’s recovery. Public Transportation Planning a Community Effort? How to Engage the Public in Transit Planning

Richmond, Virginia is one of the areas making innovative transportation choices to take Southerners farther — and often faster — than ever before, while curbing pollution. In 2018, the Richmond region completely revamped its existing bus routes and launched its first express bus — the Pulse. The Greater Richmond Transit Company (GRTC) went fare-free during the pandemic, a model that continues today. With an expanded, more efficient, and fare-free system, combined with some transit-friendly land use changes, more people are choosing public transit and ridership rose another 14 percent in just the past year.
