The Council of Health Insurance (CHI) is leading the charge in transforming Saudi Arabia’s health care system with a strong focus on Value-Based Health Care (VBHC). The latest white paper outlines CHI’s strategic roadmap and the key role of Value-Based Payment (VBP) models in this journey. Key achievements so far include standardizing data with the Minimum Data Set (MDS), launching the NPHIES health information exchange, introducing patient classification systems (AR-DRG and SBS), and enhancing Health Information Management standards. Over the next four years, they will focus on four main areas: Informatics, Benchmarking, Payments, and Care Delivery Organization. The UAE has declared that from January 2025, health insurance will be mandatory for private sector employees. This initiative aims to guarantee access to high-quality healthcare for the significant private sector workforce in the country. The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) will conduct awareness campaigns and programs to facilitate the implementation of this scheme. Advancing Regulations for #PrivateSectorEngagement Under #Egypt's #UniversalHealthInsurance System In #Egypt, two pivotal projects, funded by the #WorldBank and #IFC, are set to enhance the #contractingframework with #privatesectorproviders with the purpose of expanding #healthcare service availability under Egypt's universal health insurance system. Since establishing the new Universal Health Insurance System in 2018, the Government of Egypt has been gradually rolling out its #socialhealthinsurance reforms on a governorate-by-governorate basis. Two complementary projects are about to launch that will: 1️⃣ Identify and determine effective ways to contract private providers. 2️⃣ Undertake a costing and tariff setting analysis to determine fair prices for contracting providers.
