Pricing - just because you can charge more, should you??? I spoke to an ex-colleague today who has been self employed for a few years now. Very talented individual who specialises in tax but also some general practice services. We discussed a potential collaboration for a new client, and he shared with me his standard pricing. I was taken aback at how reasonable his charges were and asked him if he was aware of this. His response was simple, “I work very efficiently really and sometimes it feels like what I do is money for old rope anyway. Plus I make sure I charge extra for extra services.” Clearly he was making enough money to suit his lifestyle and run his practice efficiently, so he was happy. It made me wonder, just because we can charge more, should we?? I would be interested to hear what people think. If you found out that you weren’t keeping up with the charges of other local firms, would you increase just to stay inline? ☀️🎆 #pricing #shouldwechargemore #competition #efficientworking
interesting one… any price point you ever is just totally made up by you, market conditions. Let me ask you this. 3 motivational speakers 1) £50 2) £500 3) £5,000 Which one is best? Choose one.
Price, charging, should [more or less] be a function of the service levels, and should pay for the frills the client wants and expects, profitably. The reason the Porsche Cayenne costs roughly a third more than the Volkswagen Tiguan, you know as I do, they are essentially the same car.
Criteria for pricing might include: 🔵 profitability 🔵 Market-facing 🔵 Life-cycle value of the client

6molt all comes down to what you perceive as success. For some it’s financial, for others it’s lifestyle and others it’s altruism. Personally l make enough to fund my need to travel every couple of months. And l set myself up in a way that means l can take time off when l like. That’s what success looks like for me.
