I think we can solve it. By 2030 Chariot's aim is to sustainably connect 1 million young Africans to the digital world. And by 2035 close to a billion, the majority being in rural Africa. Yesterday, Bit Alliance organized the final conference on the 2-years running Project Smart Cities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, implemented in cooperation with GIZ Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro and financed by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). It was a fantastic experience helping local communities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, cities, and municipalities to step into the process of Digital Transformation internally, in their local administration and mayor offices, and launching pilot implementations of e-services for Smart Cities in the communal operation domain. Participating communities were the Municipality of Pale, the City of Zenica, the City of Prijedor, the Municipality of Tesanj, and the City of Zvornik. During the project in participating cities and municipalities, the BIT Alliance implemented pilots Smart Parking in cooperation with LANACO and Citizen Report (Građanska Patrola) in partnership with DVC Solutions, both of which are local IT companies from Bosnia and Herzegovina. During the project, we visited Barcelona, attended the Smart City Expo, the world's most prominent Smart Cities solutions and praxis event, and collected valuable knowledge and experience for future actions in Bosnia and Herzegovina. 🔥 At the final conference, I organized the fireside chat with the Minister at the Ministry of Communications and Transport of Bosnia and Herzegovina, H.E. Edin Forto, for discussion on the vision of paperless and digital Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2030. Mr. Forto sent optimistic messages reminding us of many already digitalized services and even more services in implementing e-services nationwide. Mr. Forto also called for all experts, companies, and organizations to apply for the Digital Europe for Digital Transformation in Bosnia and Herzegovina funding program. For now, he said Bosnia and Herzegovina have received many grants from the EU but only 0 EUR for digital transformation projects. The available funds from Digital Europe are approximately 760 million EUR, which is very competitive. 💡 This project was an incredible journey toward a brighter, digital future for the government sector, SMEs, and citizens. Kenya, often called the “Silicon Savanna,” has a leader in Africa’s tech scene. This really boosts our economy. Even the recent growth in bizjet activity here is notable. Luxury tourism, regional business needs, and the growing tech sector are all driving this trend. Capital, Nairobi also plays a big part by hosting major int. events like UN meetings, business summits, and concerts. Also the scheduled performances by top artists like #SeanPaul on Dec 1st, #BurnaBoy on Dec 30th, and #Shenseea on Dec 31st highlight the steady stream of high-profile visitors including celebrities, billionaires, and heads of state. You have two options: you can take a cab to the border and cross on foot, or opt for a direct taxi to Lomé from Cotonou, where the driver handles all border formalities. I opted for the latter option, and the driver took care of everything else except for getting my passport stamped.
