This is going to be interesting if/how this will affect sports team accounts. We are usually the original content posters, but what about official aggregator accounts like the league and Bleacher Report? Will broadcast footage on multiple accounts be flagged when we all are clipping the same thing? Will this provide better metrics for sponsored posts? A lot of questions from this news. I understand why some creators don’t care about usage rights.. Let’s be real, how many creators ACTUALLY keep up with honouring their usage rights once the ad is live? Usually ads are live for no more than 6 months (if it’s really good) Not to mention the hassle of maintaining contracts with multiple clients is a lot harder than it seems. Since working on the brand side of campaign management, here’s my advice: 🎯 offer long term usage rights for first time clients (3-6 months) - this increases your chances of creating a long lasting rapport. 🎯 overdeliver, if they want 1 video give them 2. Brands can trial the ad through A-B testing. Promising you a repeat client. ❌ never offer ‘in perpetuity’ rights. Unless you’re comfortable knowing the brand has your content forever - LITERALLY. As a creator myself, I 1000% stand with other creators getting their moneys worth. But this solution provides a happy medium 😏 #ugc #contentcreator

Social media #agencies are sinking left & right. Three clients in the last month have had issues with agencies failing to pay them. When I’ve approached the agencies more than one has said they’ve gone out of business. Dare I say this is healthy for the #creator ecosystem. Management agencies can be some of the most predatory, seedy, & unnecessary parts of the creator economy. I’ve seen them sign creators onto 3 year terms without giving them a way out. Others have threatened to bad mouth creators to brands if the creator stops working with them. Many don’t pay creators on time. They aren’t all bad, but there’s many bad actors in the social media space which remains a Wild West, & agencies are no exception.
