These are red flags: - I'm productive when I work alone (isolation- still thinking about "isolation" vs "alone"). - I prefer to work alone than in a team even in a team of 2 devs. - They are distracting me from finishing my tasks faster. - It's X's mistake not me. - Someone will pick up that. Even when you can do it yourself so you unblock someone. There are many red flags but it needs a good interviewer to reveal those which turn the interview into an interesting discussion (as it supposed ), then the interviewer sees the green or red light.
We go slow now to go fast later. Interesting chat tonight at the pub with my colleagues about the many benefits of working together. Many times, when promoting pair or mob programming, I get objections like "I'm more productive when I work alone", "It's slowing the team down". Team collaboration is an investment in time that returns knowledge and long-term enablement. We will always have a skill imbalance in a team. Siloing perseveres the imbalance; collaborating solves it. In the short term, it's not important to go fast. It's important to ensure everyone's on the same page. #teamwork #pairprogramming #mobprogramming #ensembleprogramming #softwareteaming #softwareengineering #softwaredevelopment
