🎙️ PODCAST | Let’s talk methane. In the Countdown to COP29 Azerbaijan Green Alliance pod, our researcher Dr. Jenniffer Iveth Pedraza Vega explores how stronger methane mitigation can close key gaps in Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs). She also highlights tangible actions countries can take to reduce emissions of this potent greenhouse gas. Key takeaways: ▹ Methane’s warming effect is 80x that of CO₂, with a short atmospheric lifespan (12–15 years). ▹ Prioritizing mitigation of this gas can swiftly reduce temperatures, supporting Paris goals. ▹ Including methane in future NDCs can track progress on global reduction, address climate change, and secure essential climate financing. #PreCOP #NDCs #Methane #ClimateFinance 🎧 Link in repost ⤵️

This podcast episode was created a few weeks ago before the current challenges in +254. There are certain no go areas in business. This might just be one of them. Most enterprises avoid the temptation of talking a little too much about politics and governance. But it is hard to ignore some of the obvious challenges that those we deal with or hope to create solutions for are facing. For example what type of impact can we claim to have if we are not solving important issues like security and poverty especially when some of these are intimately connected with bad governance? This is some of what we talk about with special reference to Kenya, Uganda and Nigeria. We talk in brief about why some leaders micromanage as well as why at least in some geographies we are stuck in an unfortunate loop.
