As new cities are being built from scratch, others are developing new regions and districts on existing greenfield sites for greater sustainability. This begs the question: What will cities of the future look like? At World Cities Summit (WCS) 2024's thematic track titled “Future Cities,” we discuss how developers, businesses, planners, and the community can work together to develop inclusive cities of the future through innovative urban and social approaches. In Plenary I, “What are the paradigm shifts needed to build future cities?”, we explore how more liveable cities can be built for future generations by learning from how residents work, live, and play today. In Plenary II, “From Vision to Reality: Developing Future Cities”, we discuss the importance of partnerships between all stakeholders such as leaders, businesses, and residents, for the development of future liveable cities. Delegates can also find out more by attending the track sessions available. The “Green Soul” project won the international call C40 Cities #ReinventingCities for the railway yard Ravone-Prati in Bologna. GET was part of the winning multidisciplinary team, led by Nhood Services Italy, in the role of Monitoring Protocol Advisor. We provided strategic consultancy to define metrics and methods to monitor the achievement of the strict sustainability, resilience, and social utility goals. “Green Soul” project aimed to integrate aspects of social inclusion, environmental, and energy sustainability into design, in line with the UN 2030 Agenda and the 10 C40 Reinventing Cities challenges. The new district includes 31,000sqm of mixed-use residential buildings and 2,500sqm of services. The area aspires to become a car-free and energy-positive district. Finally, the intervention aims to define a single identity for the area currently divided in two by the railway infrastructure, generating new social value for the area. We thank #NhoodItaly and all partners for this important achievement 🤝 #socialhousing #rigenerazioneurbana #sustainabledevelopment #c40cities Emil Banca Credito Cooperativo, Gruppo BCC Iccrea, Arup, Rubner Haus, CREE BUILDINGS, gruppo RElab Dipartimento di Energia Politecnico di Milano, TAMassociati, LAND, MIC-HUB, J+S SpA, Planet Smart City, FROM – Moltiplichiamo valore pubblico, Schneider Electric, Helexia Italia, CSD Engineers, Leroy Merlin, Open Impact, CNS
