It's been almost a year since I graduated from IIM Kashipur, and as I reflect on the journey that many of us embark upon after earning our MBA, I'm reminded of the pivotal role our first job plays in setting the direction of our professional lives. Your first job after completing your MBA acts as the cornerstone of your professional identity. Here are a few thoughts on why this initial role, the leaders we encounter, and the organizations we join are so crucial: 1. The Foundation: This experience lays the groundwork for all future endeavors, where theory meets practice, and where the skills and knowledge acquired during your studies are tested and refined. 2. Leadership Influence: A leader who is not only accomplished but also willing to mentor can magnify your growth exponentially. They impart wisdom, instill confidence, and open doors to opportunities you never knew existed. A good leader even in a bad job role might give you better opportunities at learning than in a fancy job role. 3. Organizational Culture: The culture of your first post-MBA organization imprints on your professional ethos. It influences your work style, ethics, and even your definition of success. A positive, dynamic, and supportive environment fosters innovation and allows you to soar. 4. Strategic Alignment: This early career phase is a prime opportunity to align your ambitions with the right industry and function. As I navigate my path, I'm continually grateful for the doors my first post-MBA role opened. To those just starting this journey, I encourage you to choose wisely—not just in terms of role, but also in the leader you'll work with and the culture and organization you'll be part of. Week 1 done! But was it a week or a month? I'm not sure. I'm telling you a secret🤫, time works differently in IIMs. 1 day in an IIM = 4 Earth days. What did we do, you ask? Ask, what did we not do! It was so hectic, sleep deprivation is real, it's by design. We had lots of fun and lots of learning. 👉 Daily enlightening leadership talks (so many industry leaders like directors, CFOs, etc.) 👉 Professional photoshoot (yes, it happens) 👉 Sports (we played "tag rugby" and did better than we expected) 👉 Team building exercises (we held sticks and people walked over them; climbed down the wall, etc.) 👉 Business simulation exercise (lots of finance!) 👉 Fun activities (jamming session, treasure hunt, dance, etc.) 👉 And ofcourse, studies and lectures (professors are awesome, they teach from scratch!) #IIM #Week1 #Studies #Fun

Upon reflection of receiving my MBA degree, there are many takeaways that can be offered: 1. Excellence is never an accident. It is always the result of high intention, sincere effort, and intelligent execution; it represents the wise choice of many alternatives - choice, not chance, determines your destiny 2. In most cases, we as humans are stronger than we think; enduring the most brutal of circumstances to suggest that there is an even bigger burden that we must bear to offer a more complex adventure ahead 3. At all times, the existence of our own inadequacies often leads us to a more rational understanding of who we must become and at the cost of how great we as individuals want to become 4. Build a team; surround yourself with people that inspire, spark and motivate you to reach your potential. Everyday we go up against teams of people; pick your network wisely 5. Find good mentors; these are people that will hold you accountable everyday - people that will mold all the optimism inside of you and accept the flaws that you carry. Hold these people dear to your heart as they will be the growth areas of humility and humbleness For everyone on my Journey that has supported my goals … THANK YOU #Masters #MBA

Navigating the Path to an MBA: The Journey of Growth & Learning As I prepare for my MBA journey, I’ve been reflecting on what this path means, both personally and professionally. Growth Mindset: The decision to pursue an MBA is driven by the desire to evolve, to push boundaries, and to take on new challenges.
