🎓 “If Europe is to maintain a vibrant and sustainable healthcare sector that can lead in innovation, we must rise to the challenge of recruiting and educating the best talent.” - Celine Carrera, MBA, Chair, WorkInHealth Foundation. 🎓 Joint report from the WorkInHealth Foundation and the European Investment Fund (EIF) on Europe's healthcare skills needs highlights the urgent need for healthcare workforce to develop some hard and soft skills to respond to changes in the sector. The European Year of Skills initiative plays a crucial role in supporting quality employment and highlighting national and European funding opportunities for SMEs. In parallel, EIT Health is coordinating the Pact for Skills with the European Commission to address the needs facing the health sector and establish a common model for skills development in Europe. We need to invest in training and reskilling to align the skills of existing workers with employers' needs, and to attract new talent. 📊 What are the most crucial technical and non-technical skills to develop in the healthcare sector? Find out here: https://lnkd.in/e_qCZmZQ Closing the skills gap between health industry needs and fit-for-purpose talents is the essence of WorkInHealth Foundation, which it strives to achieve through four axes: 1. Why global health innovators choose Britain? Excellent panel this morning discussing the UK as destination for Health Innovation. My key takeaways were: - There’s strong funding support for early stage companies through government and VC (e.g. Innovate UK) - The environment for clinical evidence generation to prove the efficacy of health innovations is also robust (e.g. Imperial SCARU) - There’s an investment cliff post series A in the UK, that encourages growth stage companies to explore other markets for funding - The commercial environment for HealthTech companies in the UK is particularly challenging making other markets more attractive In summary, the UK is great place to start a HealthTech company, but a strategy for commercialization & scaling is needed from the outset in order for companies & patients to realise the benefits from these innovations. I’ve also seen this as a big barrier to HealthTech innovation beyond the UK. Thank you to Dominick Kennerson, Konrad Dobschuetz and Nelson "Skip" Riddle for hosting. And thank you to the excellent panelists Katerina Spranger, PhD 🇺🇦, Jonathan Grinbaud austen el-osta and Mohammad Al-Ubaydli #digitalhealth #healthinnovation #healthtech #londontechweek #ltw

The ongoing social care reform enables Integrated Care Systems to continue to integrate the delivery of social care within the wider healthcare provision. However, the social care sector requires greater government investment to ensure it is appropriately meeting the needs of those that require its services. How can manufacturers support the NHS in identifying gaps in social care provision across England and support local Integrated Care Boards in improving its local provision of these services? How can innovative technologies address some of the social care challenges? Social care has such a huge impact on patients being able to access the care they require. I've sat in meetings where leaders of NHS Trusts have advised that they are struggling to manage new patients coming into the system whilst they wait for the backlog of patients ready to be discharged into social care to be cleared. In some cases this can be even more nuanced. It's important that any strategy you have with your medicine / technology considers this, and demonstrates how you can alleviate the pressures faced by our partners in the NHS on a daily basis. Factors affecting product uptake will vary region by region. Using a tool such as the IQVIA PESHTLE analsis will allow you to plan accordingly and position your product in the correct manner, to the people in the health system who would benefit from it most. Our experts are on hand to support you with developing this. #marketaccess #pharmaceutical #medtech #pharma #pharmaceuticalsales
