That's a wrap on the The MedTech Conference! #MTC24 flew by in a blur of exciting conversations and new connections. Our team enjoyed sharing our passion for medical device design and manufacturing with the global medtech community — from startups and industry giants to the investors, accelerators and associations like AdvaMed that bring everyone together. Connecting with people from the US, Canada, EU, Asia and beyond, it's clear the drive to improve patient care is stronger than ever in medtech. Highlight: The True North MedTech Mixer, co-hosted with our partners Mintz, Prolucid Technologies, Megalab Group Inc., MassMEDIC , and RQM+. We enjoyed creating a fun, no-pressure space for the global medtech community to unwind, right here in downtown Toronto. Reflecting on #MTC24, I'm struck by the incredible momentum in medtech. The MedTech Conference finally came to our home turf in Toronto after years of planning by AdvaMed, and I’m still buzzing from the excitement of last week. Months of preparation by me and our team built to a conference presence that allowed us to open and connect with collaborators, late-stage startups, healthcare giants, VCs, accelerators and government officials from all over the world — all of whom play a critical part in bringing novel technology to life. Our True North MedTech Mixer highlighted the power of creating spaces for informal exchange. It's often in these relaxed environments that groundbreaking ideas are born, and we know each person left having connected with at least one new colleague that evening. Innovation thrives at the intersection of diverse perspectives, and we were happy to partner with Mintz, Prolucid Technologies, Megalab Group Inc., RQM+ and MassMEDIC to hold space for the global medtech industry to come together. Moving forward, how can we maintain this collaborative energy year-round? The future of patient care depends on our ability to work together, share knowledge, and push boundaries collectively.

Was honored to Co-Chair the #MedTech session at last week Biomed Israel 2024 with Eyal Lifschitz. The key note speaker was the amazing Jon Salvenson , Vice Chair at Piper Sandler, probably the most active MedTech advisory firm in the world. We had talked about the the latest trends in the investment and M&A landscape in our space which seems consistent from a number of deals, but has completely shift from a buyer mix perspective . We also talked about valuations , and while they are down from the last 3 years high of 10- 15X on F revenue , they are still 50% above historical average of 5X. We focused on the importance of MedTech companies to design, prepare and execute on early commercialization and reach those initial ~$20M in revenue run-rate with consistent mid double digit annual growth. Jon shared an amazing fact - over the last 10 years, only 10% - 15% of the companies each year, were acquired at pre-revenue stage, and of those, most were in the Cardio Vascular space. I talked about the reasons behind this and the recognition that even in Israel, where pre-revenue deal used to dominated, the new reality is more aligned with the global numbers. We shared the MedTech Commercialization Institute program that support those companies that recognize this trend and willing to invest in being ready to penetrate the US market. Then we heard from the CEOs of several companies that underwent commercial strategy turnaround such as BrainsWay and Biobeat.
