I just finished running the 10th year of my Festival of Texas Fiddling on a weekend where it was 40° and raining. Which is bad weather anywhere but particularly brutal in the Texas hill country. Nevertheless we had large enthusiastic crowds and whole event was (very happily!) a big success. I will follow up with more thoughts on running successful traditional music festivals. But I did want to share one obvious but important idea about sustainability. It's clear that if you great meaningful experiences that engage culture, nothing will stop people from seeking its sustenance.
