Gen Z Will Reach Record-High Usage of Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) Services This December, According to New Report Katrin Kaurov, CEO and Co-Founder of Frich Money, comments: “The holidays can be a stressful time for many young people and students, but it’s not a time to completely forget about healthy financial habits. While buying on credit certainly isn’t a new thing, buy now, pay later services can lull users into a false sense of security and convince them to develop unsustainable financial habits. Buying on credit or using a BNPL service is most effective when making large purchases, and it’s not really intended to be used for smaller purchases like holiday gifts. There can be a negative impact on your credit history, so it’s best to be careful and properly evaluate your choices when spending.” https://lnkd.in/eP4q34Hh Aleksandra Medina #fintech #finance #banking #paytech #payments #fintechnews #paymentsnews

Did you know it’s Klarna Week? Our latest analysis of our community of 700,000+ Gen Zers revealed that this week, Gen Z’s BNPL (buy now, pay later) usage will hit record highs for holiday purchases. With 52% of our users reporting more stress about affording gifts this year, it’s not surprising they’re turning to BNPL or credit cards as a solution. But here's a reminder: while services like Klarna and Clearpay can help spread costs, over-reliance on these platforms can lead to long-term financial strain. You can access more of our findings on the topic via the link in the comments. Thanks John Sundholm at YourTango for covering the report! #FrichCommunity #GenZInsights #SocialFinance #BuyNowPayLater #HolidayBudgeting

Black Friday sales are finally over and, yet again, Americans spent more money this year than they did the year prior. And no, you're not imagining it, Black Friday themed sales are also starting earlier and earlier each year, making it that much harder to resist making unnecessary purchases. So, of course, we want to know more about how you are feeling after this humangous shopping spree. The numbers say one thing, but what lies behind them? How are you feeling about holiday shopping this year? Are you willing to go into CC debt for Black Friday deals? Do you regret anything you've bought during Black Friday sales already? These and many more money questions are answered by Gen Z'ers across the US every day. Our main feature - Question of the Day - is meant to give you insights on how people just like you answer to the most awkward money questions. But we're not stopping there! Do you use ChatGPT to get financial advice? You’d be surprised by how many people are doing it! ChatGPT can be a great tool for many things - but you can’t rely on generative AI platforms to give you financial advice that resonates with your unique situation. Everyone’s priorities, financial positions and relationships with money are so individual to them. Our advice? If you want solid financial recommendations, don’t look to ChatGPT or Gemini - look to established financial institutions and resources. And if you want to go beyond the generic AI-generated advice and find out how people like you are actually tackling their finances, download Frich! Our co-founder Aleksandra Medina recently spoke to Anisha Sircar about this for Forbes. Is intuitive spending a money hack for the holidays? Our CEO Katrin Kaurov spoke to Lindsay Dodgson at Business Insider about the latest trend for money management, and why the tide’s been turning on budgeting. While budgeting has long been the first step to figuring out finances, it’s definitely not the most appealing to young consumers. But as Katrin explained, intuitive spending isn’t the answer - for those on a tighter budget, it can encourage over-spending. There is a middle ground - realistic and flexible budgeting that makes money feel empowering, not restrictive. Read the full article linked in the comments to explore why budgeting isn’t a one-size-fits-all solution!
