A great job by Craig Watkinson with his presentation at EPG Asia on 10/25/24. In his presentation "Solubility Parameters: More than Compatibility," he asked the question, "When we mix 50 ml of water with 50 ml of water, we get 100 ml of water. Why then, when we mix 50 ml of ethanol with 50 ml of water, we get 96 ml of solution?" He continued, "The water and alcohol are miscible and form 96 ml of a new solution, unique and different from water and alcohol in isolation." Thus the overarching theme of why we should not test our materials in isolation. Great job, Craig!

Even a minor memory loss can cause high risks on the energy markets during the present phase of recovery. Due to the current lower price levels, the recent product developments have been unduly overshadowed, which may lead to an even more exposed energy sales sector. One of the key questions of 2024 is how to find the new balance in risk management, product conditions and reliable operations.   These were some of the topics we discussed today with fellow executives Zsolt Jamniczky, Gábor Králik and Károly Mátrai, moderated by Balázs Felsmann at the annual conference of the Hungarian Energy Traders' Association (HETA).

Representatives of Brazil’s distributed generation association ABGD - Associação Brasileira de Geração Distribuída 🇧🇷 recently met with mines and energy minister Alexandre Silveira in Brasília to discuss issues related to restructuring the electricity sector and reducing power rates. One of the issues discussed was the development of incentive programs for shared energy as a way of relieving the pressure on the energy development account (CDE), in line with ongoing legislative initiatives, such as the bill for which Lafayette de Andrada is the rapporteur. That proposal seeks to alleviate the CDE's social electricity rate – which is a federal benefit for residential units of low-income families – and direct resources to help the poorest section of the population. Co-Edited and co-authored a book titled “Net-Zero and Positive Energy Communities: Best Practice Guidance Based on the ZERO-PLUS Project Experience” as the main research output of a project funded under the EU’s Horizon 2020 program in 2015 focused on developing cost-effective strategies for constructing “net-zero energy settlements.”
