Senior Manager Extended Reality

Last week we shared our recent progress towards bringing head-worn displays into the driving car. I’m absolutely excited about what my team, together with other teams at Mercedes, has achieved over the past few years. The difference is striking compared to the bulky devices and comparably limited vehicle-integration we showcased in one of our previous demos back in 2018 at IEEE VR. Finally, the coming-of-age of head-worn augmented reality might gradually become a reality, also in our vehicles and much beyond just entertainment use cases.

I’m thrilled to share the work of our talented team of engineers and researchers at Mercedes-Benz Tech Motion GmbH and Mercedes-Benz AG, where we’re redefining the future of in-car experiences. In our latest project, we’ve been exploring the use of Augmented Reality glasses to deliver contextual visual information and interactivity for passengers. Imagine navigating your journey while effortlessly seeing route guidance, points of interest, or personalized entertainment — all seamlessly integrated into your view. A huge thank you to everyone involved in making this vision a reality, including: Dr. Michael Otto Marc Necker Stephan Leenders Oscar Javier Ariza Nuñez Daniel Keßelheim Patrick Fraß Robin Connor Schramm Markus Sasalovici Christian Winkler #AugmentedReality #Innovation #ARGlasses #FutureMobility #UserExperience #MercedesBenz #ImmersiveTechnology #Engineering #ResearchAndDevelopment

Amazing work guys 😊I love how this is integrated with the infotainment system. So many exciting usecases that can be done with this extending the limited screen space and limitations of traditional HUDs!
