Thanksgiving is truly one of my favorite holidays each year—a cherished time when my family and I connect and reflect on why we are grateful and where we can give thanks. While I recognize there are so many issues today that can cloud our sense of gratitude, I remain deeply #thankful for the strength, optimism, ingenuity and perseverance of the human spirit; the support of my family, friends, colleagues and community; and for my professional position and platform which enables me to inspire, assist and empower those around me. I am always and forever grateful for my family and friends. They are my unconditional surround sound support system. This year is especially significant as my daughter is graduating from college, and my son is graduating from high school. They will both graduate next May to embark on new endeavors and start exciting new chapters in their lives. For these reasons and this reality, I am thankful, excited and extremely exhausted! Also, I am immensely thankful for Team Merck and colleagues who passionately and tirelessly apply expertise and focus to keep patients at the center of everything we do, all while delivering with excellence in an environment rich with respect and resilience. This commitment not only fosters a culture of innovation but also sets a powerful example that prioritizing patients and ethical leadership is essential for sustainable success. And as I look out and lean into the business community, I am filled with gratitude for the relationships, opportunities, spaces and value that highlight the significant and impactful intersection of corporate affairs and positive business outcomes. Serving on the USC Annenberg Center for Public Relations’ Board, I have the privilege of engaging with a distinguished group of thought leaders, entrepreneurs and innovators, whose collective guidance and expertise catalyze creative and ground-breaking work, while also uplifting the next generation of business and world leaders. Additionally, I’m always proud to engage with and support organizations like Fortune Most Powerful Women, Black Women On Boards, National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC) and Magic Johnson Enterprises, all of which exemplify courageous leadership and affirm the power of representation, inclusion and success. Gathering to celebrate #Thanksgiving reminds us that gratitude is not merely a sentiment; it is a perpetual force that propels meaningful action. Whether as a leader, colleague, mentor, mom, auntie, or a friend, I carry this spirit with me every day, striving to positively impact the present and the future. I invite you to join me in carrying the momentum of gratitude forward.
