🚨 Important Community Initiative: Free Travel Scheme for Women 🚨 ᴅᴇᴀʀ ᴄᴏɴɴᴇᴄᴛɪᴏɴꜱ: I’m excited to share a significant development aimed at enhancing the safety and well-being of women in our community. The police have launched a free travel scheme designed specifically for women who find themselves alone and without transportation between 10 PM and 6 AM. This initiative allows women to reach out to the helpline at 𝟭𝟬𝟵𝟭 or 𝟳𝟴𝟯𝟳𝟬𝟭𝟴𝟱𝟱𝟱 to request a safe ride home. It’s a proactive step toward ensuring that every woman feels secure while navigating our city, particularly during late hours when public transport options may be limited. By providing this service, the police are reinforcing their commitment to fostering a safer environment and building trust within the community. This scheme not only offers peace of mind but also encourages women to engage in evening activities without the fear of getting stranded. Let’s take a moment to spread the word about this valuable resource. It’s crucial that we support one another and ensure that everyone knows this service is available. What research is the #EU conducting to aid in creating a transport system #accessible for all? CORDIS published it’s 2023 Result Pack, giving us a glimpse into the projects leading the charge towards inclusive mobility. Across 11 initiatives funded by Horizon 2020, such as INDIMO, SUNRISE, and TRIPS, the EU is revolutionising transport, making it a fundamental right for every European citizen. These projects prioritise #accessibility, affordability, and fairness, ensuring that no one is left behind. From promoting women's participation in the transport sector to addressing the needs of people with disabilities and vulnerabilities, these projects embody a commitment to inclusivity. By co-creating with citizens and integrating diverse perspectives, the EU is shaping a future where mobility is truly for everyone. The £1 billion a year annual decline in funding for youth services over the last decade has made it difficult to access support in many areas. We are calling on national government to create a long-term plan to ensure all young people have access to the youth work provision they need where they live. In Quintana Roo, 32% of the population is aged 12-29, with immense potential to drive social, economic, and political progress. Yet, a 2021 survey by Ciudadan@s por la Transparencia (CxT) and Unidos MX revealed that 68% of young people felt excluded, and 88% sought more opportunities to participate. In response, as part of its 2022 Open Government Partnership action plan, the government of Quintana Roo, CxT, and UnidosMX co-created a protocol to better integrate youth into political life and decision-making. This protocol outlines five key recommendations for government institutions to collaborate with young people and foster greater citizen participation. When the world feels uncertain, the strength of community becomes essential. After a long and polarizing election season in the US, many of us—especially women—are left feeling a mix of emotions. For some, the outcome didn’t reflect the hope they were holding onto. Here at Verity we know how important it is to have a place to process, share, and lean on one another. Our mission has always been to create a space where women feel seen, heard, and valued, especially during times of change and uncertainty. A través del diseño, podemos intervenir en esas circunstancias y abordar las causas raíz, creando soluciones que promuevan un cambio real y mayores oportunidades. 🌍💡 ------------------- People in situations of human mobility are capable, full of talents and strength.💖 However, they are often made vulnerable by the systems and structures surrounding them. I am convinced that, through design, we can intervene in those circumstances and address the root causes, creating solutions that promote real change and greater opportunities. 🌍💡

🤔 How can we support young people to engage in the General Election? Youth workers in YouthLink Scotland webinar this afternoon had lots to say about the practical challenges of supporting young people to engage in the GE2024 (short run-up; busy time of year with end of term/transitions/holidays), but also that there is a real disconnect between politicians and young people. Ultimately, we have to ensure political spaces are open and welcoming to children and young people. Beyond the invaluable contribution they have to make to politics, children have a right to be heard and taken seriously on everything that affects them.
