When do you need to hire a Sales Manager?

Look deep down The reason why you keep hiring and firing sales managers in a particular territory for poor performance can be because of the unrealistic target you're setting. Go back to when that territory was doing so well and flying, is highly possible the sales manager at that particular time was involved in territory encroachment and diversion. This goods were invoiced under that territory but never got there and never sold there. Your data in that territory is false and does not reflect the reality on ground HAVE YOU EVER SUFFERED FROM THIS FATE BEFORE?

A desire to perform the activity required? When recruiting for a Sales Representative role or territory management role in my view this is the most important thing to measure and both the candidate and hiring manager needs to be on the same page. If you manage a successful sales team you will know what activity and tasks your sales team members need to perform on a daily basis. Choosing your next sales hire who has the willingness to be measured by these metrics is going to outweigh their past experience or past ability to hit target. Years ago I accepted a sales role in a firm and upon resumption I realize they've sacked 3 sales staff in the past 1year in that particular territory I was assigned. The issue with the territory is they have unrealistic expectations due to past experience from the territory that is not in conformity with the current reality. I knew I was already in for a long ride. The rest is history. Please do your own investigation before accepting any sales job mostly if you have a job handy and also check how often the company post for sales vacancies as this can be a pointer to something serious. #salesmanager #sales #salesrepresentative
