The Construction Leadership Council published its report on "Creating Safe Buildings: Delivering safety, competence, and quality" in late August 2024. This preceded publication of the anticipated Phase 2 “Report into the fire at Grenfell Tower on 14 June 2017” in early September 2024. The CLC Report recognises that a key collective responsibility for the construction industry is to deliver buildings that are safe, both during construction and occupation. In this short industry update Will Buckby, Joanna Lewis, Andrew Croft and Kayleigh Rhodes summarise some of the core points from the CLC Report and consider whether future change is still required to fulfil the CLC’s ambitions and in view of the core findings and recommendations made in the recent Grenfell Report. #Grenfell #CLCReport https://lnkd.in/e-k4DcM4

Some great comprehensive guidance from the Construction Leadership Council. The purpose of the golden thread of information is to give the right people the right information at the right time. It is the information that allows someone to understand a building and the steps needed to keep both the building and people safe, now and in the future. The guidance makes clear that the golden thread should not be something new. At its heart, the golden thread is good information and good information management. Most importantly the golden thread is something that should be used. The people responsible for a higher-risk building (the dutyholders and accountable persons) should embrace the golden thread – as it is their information, for their use, to ensure their building is safe and to assure their residents that their building is safe. #buildingsafety #firesafety #fireengineering #workingtogether
The Construction Leadership Council (CLC) has published guidance on the golden thread of information requirements for higher-risk buildings. Find out more https://lnkd.in/geUrDpHj

I tell people all the time that construction is the place to be. One of the hang ups I hear is that you can’t make as much money in construction as you can in other industries. That’s just dead wrong. If you’re willing to put in the time and effort, you can make a great living and do so while creating something. Our mission as a company is to improve lives while we build the future. A huge part of that is highly competitive wages that allow our people to improve their lives in many different ways. If you don’t think construction is rewarding in multiple ways, think again.
Construction offers a world of opportunities for excellent wages and benefits. With roles ranging from skilled trades to project leadership and beyond, construction offers competitive or even above average compensation that grows alongside your skills. Growth opportunities are everywhere in this industry, making it far from being a dead end! #GregoryConstruction #ConstructionCareers #EndlessOpportunities #GrowthInConstruction #MythBusted

The Construction Industry Is Failing Its People. The truth is, we’re not just dealing with a labor shortage; we’re dealing with a leadership crisis. For decades, the construction industry has been reactive instead of proactive—expecting new hires to magically “figure it out” on their own. The result? Burnout, stagnation, and a revolving door of undertrained workers. Here’s what’s really happening: 1️⃣Skilled Labor is Aging Out: Over 40% of our skilled tradesmen are nearing retirement. The next generation is nowhere near ready to fill these gaps. 2️⃣Underdeveloped Workforce: With few formal training and leadership development programs, companies are forced to promote based on tenure, not talent—leading to frustrated teams and costly mistakes. 3️⃣Lost Talent Potential: Without a clear pathway for growth, young professionals see construction as a dead-end career and leave the industry before they’ve even hit their stride. Now, here’s what should be doing, and what i’m doing about it…🧠 We don’t just need more workers—we need to change the way we invest in our people. It’s time to ditch the “we’ve always done it this way” mentality and start: ✅Providing structured career development and mentorship. ✅Building leaders who understand the importance of both productivity and people. ✅Modernizing training to attract and retain top talent. The construction industry can’t survive on its current trajectory. It’s time to stop “we know best” attitude and start building a workforce designed to thrive. This is a new era. What are your thoughts on this, is it even necessary and how can we better strengthen our workforce in construction? #Disruptor #Culture #Leadership #Career
