👉 We need to talk about talent with disabilities. Did you know? Only half of disabled people, 54.2% to be exact, in the UK are in employment, compared with 82.0% of non-disabled people (ONS, 2024). To combat this, the UK government has created the Disability Confident employer scheme: 🔗 https://lnkd.in/g3Bg9Zv7 Studies show that inclusive employment, benefits not just individuals, but organisations, fostering diverse perspectives and solutions (Mencap). In my role as a Recruiter, focusing on diversity is about recognising and leveraging unique strengths. 🌟 This week, let's champion inclusive recruitment and retention, ensuring our practices welcome and empower all talents. Together, whether in recruitment or not, we can create workplaces where everyone has the opportunity to shine. 🤝 Let's celebrate the skills and potential of every individual. #LearningDisabilityWeek #InclusiveRecruitment #DiversityAndInclusion #Talent #Recruitment #WorkplaceInclusion #Inclusion #Recruitment #DiverseWorkforces #CompanyCulture #Empowerment

Research has found that "half of jobseekers with complex disabilities don’t feel they get the support and equipment they need to look for work. We agree that many people "would love the opportunity to work, yet struggle with the multitude of #barriers which prevent disabled people from finding employment." https://lnkd.in/ePucf_xm? With our lived and professional experience, we have helped many employees to identify and secure the support they require, and have provided awareness training to managers and leaders. These are both vital steps in removing the recruitment and retention barriers to employment. There is far more that needs addressing than just focussing on 'work shy disabled jobseekers'. Tell us, what top three things do businesses need, to open up recruitment opportunities and increase retention rates of the valuable talent pool of disabled people? #InclusiveWorkplaces #WorkplaceWellbeing

Did you know that in 2022, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (https://lnkd.in/dEvVZaM , only 21.3% of professionals with disabilities were employed, compared to 65.4% of their non-disabled peers? This week, we will be sharing resources so that employers looking to hire can be informed of ways that they can support their employees, and those seeking employment can be informed of their rights. One of those resources is the Job Accommodation Network (JAN), which found that employers providing effective accommodations reported no cost or low cost in providing those accommodations.
