With the increasing importance of building sustainable communities, there is a growing interest from landowners and housebuilders to create "legacy developments" that prioritize excellent design and construction, ensuring long-term benefits for future generations. The notion of leaving a legacy is not a novel idea. However, in recent years, this concept has evolved, allowing landowners to have more control over the design, construction, and management of projects. This approach enables them to make a positive and lasting impact on their communities while also achieving the necessary financial, social, and environmental objectives.
Tips for creating a strong agreement in legacy development

🏙️🏡Queensland Premier Steven Miles announces a $350 million initiative to expedite the construction of apartments and townhouses, strategically targeting inner-city areas to alleviate housing shortages. This significant investment underscores the government's commitment to fostering greater urban density and curbing urban sprawl, aligning with broader efforts to meet the evolving housing needs of Queenslanders while addressing environmental concerns. The initiative, unveiled amid discussions with local councils, aims to streamline development processes and incentivise denser living arrangements close to public transport hubs and essential amenities. By prioritising infill development and repurposing under-utilised urban spaces, the government seeks to create vibrant, sustainable communities that enhance residents' quality of life and minimise the environmental footprint associated with sprawling suburban growth 🏡🌿

REMINDER For action - PLEASE SIGN to SAVE NATIONAL PARKS - Queensland Parliamentary petition This is a reminder to sign the Queensland parliamentary petition (link below) to save Queensland’s national parks from commercialisation (eg leases). An explanation follows: ASH has no objection to the present permitting system, permits being approved on an annual basis. In contrast, leases granted for commercial use of all or part of a national park, whether long-term or VERY long-term (eg70 years) are just plain wrong. Leasing a state asset is equivalent to selling its use rights; and every political party says so - when in Opposition! “Commercialisation” via leasing of national parks must stop. The land acquired for national parks is a public good. It must not be gifted to private developers. https://lnkd.in/gcExHURT. With warm regards to all defenders of Queensland’s national parks. Ever wondered why some of New Zealand's most iconic buildings sit abandoned and decaying? The answer lies in our heritage regulations, where local councils can designate your property as "heritage" without your consent, but no one helps foot the preservation bill. Just look at Wellington's Gordon Wilson Flats, standing derelict because bureaucracy blocks progress. Or Christchurch's earthquake-damaged cathedral, frozen in time by regulations while even its own Bishop sought a more practical solution. How do we fix this? Imagine a heritage system built on property rights and shared responsibility. Owner consent becomes mandatory. Heritage status gets time limits. And most importantly, if a community values a building's history, they help pay for its preservation. By realigning incentives and responsibilities, we create a heritage system that actually works, preserving what matters while enabling productivity where it counts. These reforms could spark a broader transformation in how New Zealand manages its resources, balancing preservation with progress.

45% will be affordable homes. Can someone explain who decides what's affordable? It makes me wonder who is buying/letting these new builds because I know many many families who can't get on the property ladder because it's too hard to save in this current climate
