"When Americans lend a hand to one another, nothing is impossible. We’re not about what happened on 9/11. We’re about what happened on 9/12." Jeff Parness Do you remember what happened on 9.12.01? Americans were united. We showed compassion, empathy, and grace with one another. There was also a profound sense of unity and solidarity. We came together in ways that transcended differences in political beliefs, race, religion, and background. Strangers offered support to one another, and communities held vigils, and fundraisers for the victims and their families. The sight of first responders risking their lives to rescue others became a symbol of courage and selflessness, and the American flag became a powerful representation of national pride and resilience. The nation collectively mourned, but there was also a strong determination to rebuild and respond. America stood together, embodying a spirit of resilience and solidarity in the face of overwhelming adversity. As you go out into the world this week and the next...and the next, I challenge you to be intensely reminded of viewing people through THIS lens. Through the lens of 9.12. Seek to SEE people, not just look at them. Take ACTION, over apathy. Invest in RELATIONSHIPS, not differing systems or beliefs. #unite #growth #professionaldevelopment #teamleadership #connect

Past Shadows, Present Struggles Even though we're tirelessly preparing for the launch of the Shared History of the World exhibition, it's crucial—especially during these turbulent weeks when mainstream media isn't showing us this—to keep a close eye on our distant relatives across the Caribbean. Let’s remember the bonds that connect us as we stand in solidarity through challenging times. Slavery and colonialism may not exist in their old forms, but the exploitation and oppression they left behind are very much alive. The systems may have changed names, but the injustices remain. Today, forced labor, economic dependence, and systemic oppression continue to thrive, hidden beneath the surface of modern life. We witness the same powers rising to crush those who resist these injustices. And when the old empires send in the military police to stop an uprising among the people, you know that the fight is still on, just as it always has been. What does social justice mean to you? Today is #IMBOLC - the beginning of spring and the festival of light in the old Celtic tradition. It's a day of positivity, when new beginnings happen, when the fruits of our labours may start to be seen.......if we've done it right. It is also a day to celebrate for other, important reasons. Brigid's Day is now a national holiday in #Ireland, following years of campaigning by many groups including #herstory to bring about equality, representation and identity in terms of how we celebrate, what we remember and why. You can read all about the incredible campaign that took place in Ireland. Brigid, who is a Celtic Goddess and a religious saint crosses boundaries; for some it unites otherwise disparate groups. Whether it's in work or in life, knowing our "story", why we do what we do and what we are trying to achieve is essential to #communication, to bridge gaps and bring people together. Take a moment for yourself, you deserve it. Maybe though you could also think of your story, your company's story and what your customers and clients hear.
