Our second "Crisis Comms In Conversation With…" webinar, which was held recently, featured the wonderful Dr Timothy Coombs. Dr Coombs is arguably the foremost crisis comms academic and has probably done more to bridge the gap between academia and crisis comms practice than anyone else. He shared his insights with us including explaining how to use his best-known crisis response theory - the Situational Crisis Communication Theory. There were many other pearls of wisdom, such as 'sorry' not being a magic word and how the rise of moral outrage tests all our usual reputation management strategies. Here's an excerpt from the stimulating conversation. Full video and blog to follow on our website shortly. https://lnkd.in/dar8W9th #crisiscommunication #crisismanagement

Finally home after a great week on the road in New York and Ottawa. Spent time catching up with Tim Lloyd in NYC (my spiritual home) and then headed north to deliver a day-long crisis communications exercise with a financial regulator client, walking them through four phases of a complex stakeholder engagement scenario, with each phase having a clear focus and set of deliverables: - Phase 1: planning and preparation - Phase 2: press conference and technical briefing preparation - Phase 3: stakeholder mgmt/outreach - Phase 4: target media interview preparation and delivery Now for the after action report and the ongoing effort to become 'timezone relevant' again. #crisiscommunications #crisismanagement #crisispreparedness
