Chartered Institute of Public Relations has announced that they will cease proactively posting on X. As a CIPR sector group, we need to act in unison with our membership body so we will also cease using X with effect from today. Please continue to follow and engage with us here on LinkedIn and our website at ciprcrisiscommsnetwork.com. Over the next month or so we will be reviewing our social media mix so please look out for further updates on our social media strategy. Thank you 🙏

A myriad of reports are published every year with the aim of alerting us to the risks our organisations run as they try to operate in an ever unstable and challenging environment. Our Special Advisor, Rod Cartwright, heard a nagging voice in his head that someone really ought to summarise them all! So he put pen to paper and his “Reputation, Risk and Resilience” report is now into its second year. To unpack the conclusions of Rod’s synthesis and analysis, on September 30th, the Network organised a panel of contributors to the reputation risk debate: Rachel Phillips, Director of Client Operations for IPSOS Corporate Reputation, Eliot Mizrachi, Vice President, Strategy and Content at the Page Society, and Nick Hope, Managing Director of Crisis and Risk at Edelman EMEA. We obviously struck a chord, as the event garnered almost 400 registrations and was one of our best attended webinars ever! There was a spirited discussion and in the words of Eliot Mizrachi, a few “fireworks”, so watch the webinar if you can. 🙂 https://lnkd.in/esWmUSfn Meanwhile our Chair Chris Tucker has done this excellent summary of what was an informative and lively discussion. https://lnkd.in/eSTCEhKW

After years of only connecting online, we're thrilled to invite all members (and non-members) to our first in-person meet-up on Thursday 5th December, from 5:30 pm GMT. There’s no set agenda, no keynotes, and no speeches – just an opportunity to meet fellow professionals, network, and chat over a drink or two. This is your chance to create new connections, share thoughts on past and ongoing crises, and exchange best practice. Whether you've been in the industry for decades or are just curious to learn more, everyone is welcome. We'll be gathering at a central London location, with the exact venue details to be shared closer to the date. Attendance is free, but please note you will need to cover the cost of your own drinks and food. Registration closes on 1st December, but may close earlier if we reach capacity. How can crisis comms improve the chances of survival of those caught up in natural disasters? This is a question posed by our Chair Chris Tucker who lives about an hour away from Valencia. Thankfully Chris and her family are all safe but as her blog highlights, weather events such as this are likely to be more and more frequent. As recriminations in Valencia continue, this tragedy illustrates the vital role that crisis communications could and should have in saving lives. https://lnkd.in/eTRyvp_3
