The German Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (BfR) has produced a book to teach children about food safety. The book “Luis’ and Maya’s Adventure in the Shrinking Lab: Looking for Clues in the Kitchen” features Luis and Maya as two schoolchildren who visit the BfR shrinking lab, where they meet Fred, the friendly bacillus. The trio follow the trail of a bacterial villain that leads them directly to the crime scene – the dark refrigerator. Together with the characters, children learn about kitchen hygiene and food safety. #foodsafety #sqf #cics https://lnkd.in/g3ikcjby

Grace was hospitalized?🥺Food poisoning?? 😢 We celebrated WORLD FOOD SAFETY DAY on June 7....it served as a great reminder. Food safety is not just a concern for personal health, but also has far-reaching implications for families, communities, and economies worldwide. Around my neighborhood, this middle age lady (I won't describe her as "Mrs Clean" because she was far from it each time I meet her) Mummy Grace....Last Sunday, prepared a delicious meal for her family. Unbeknownst to her, the chicken she used was contaminated with a harmful bacteria(she said it was already killed and shared into portions openly at the Arena market where she bought it). Her child, Grace fell ill with food poisoning after that Sunday , requiring hospitalization. The medical bills piled up, and the family's livelihood was affected....Just from that singular unsafe act 😢 From the messages I read during the world food safety day celebration, I have been asking myself these questions😔👇 - What would happen if food safety measures failed, and a widespread foodborne illness outbreak occurred in our community?🎤 - How many lives could be saved and healthcare costs reduced if food safety protocols were consistently implemented and monitored? 🎤 - What are the long-term consequences for individuals, families, and societies when food safety is neglected or compromised? 🎤 Grace's story is a stark reminder of the importance of food safety. Let us work together to prioritize food safety, raise awareness, and take collective action to prevent foodborne illnesses. By doing so, we can build a safer, healthier world for ourselves, our families, and future generations. 📌What can we do then? - Practice good hygiene and handling practices in our kitchens - Support food safety initiatives and advocacy groups - Demand stricter food safety regulations from our government - Educate our community about food safety risks and best practices. Together, we can make a difference and ensure that food safety becomes a top priority globally. Connect with me Okwuchukwu, Paschaline if you enjoy reading from me. I am very open to corrections, learning from you and growing together😊 📝Miss Paschaline #worldfoodsafetyday2024 #globalfoodsecurityandsafety #foodsafety #foodblog #foodregulations #foodscienceandtechnology

OFF The Job Safety: Food Safety at restaurants Food safety is essential to protect public health by preventing foodborne illnesses and ensuring that the food we consume is free from harmful contaminants. It helps maintain consumer trust, ensures legal compliance, and reduces economic losses related to food recalls and medical expenses. Additionally, it supports a sustainable food supply and protects vulnerable populations, such as children and the elderly, from health risks. Eating out poses a risk of bacterial contamination due to several factors: Sources of Contamination: Pests: Flies, rats, etc. Poor Hygiene: Unclean hands or attire. Contaminated Tools: Using the same cutting board for raw and cooked food without proper cleaning. Cross-Contamination: Juices from raw food like thawing chicken dripping onto ready-to-eat items. Improper Food Temperature: Food left at room temperature for over two hours. Warning Signs: -Dirty public areas, including restrooms. -Unclean tables, dishes, or utensils. -Staff with poor personal hygiene (e.g., dirty hands, aprons, or untied hair). -Overflowing trash bins attracting pests. -Foreign objects like hair or insects in food. Positive Indicators: -Hot food served hot and cold food served cold. -Fresh batches of food replacing old ones in buffets. -Properly cold self-service fridges. -Visible staff hygiene training certificates and food safety instructions. #FoodSafety #SafeFood #HealthAndSafety #FoodHygiene #PreventContamination #CleanEating #SafeEating #KitchenSafety #StaySafeEatSafe #CrossContamination #FoodQuality #EatClean #SafeFoodHandling #TemperatureControl #HygienicKitchen
