Proud to have secured a certificate of completion in Product Management🎖
You might be thinking - but I'm a UX designer... so why did I do this?
Well - as a UX designer, I totally understand the importance of user needs. We're trained to be user champions, making sure designs are built around real people and solve real problems. It's about empathy, you know? That user voice being heard loud and clear while also considering business needs and technical limitations to strike the best balance.
Product Managers (PMs) are on the same team, user-wise. They are also trained to be ‘the voice of the user’ in balancing those needs with technical limitations and business goals.
😕 I see a lot of online debates – PMs vs. UX, who really "owns" the user voice? Etc, etc..
But honestly, I've had great experiences working with PMs - having multiple advocates for great user experiences is a win-win! There can be some approach differences, for sure though.
So, to bridge the gap and better understand the PM perspective, I recently took the Aha! Product Management certification course.
A really interesting course which I hope helps me empathise not just with users, but also to work better with product managers who are a natural partner for driving better user experiences in an increasingly complex digital world.
