Attention recruiters! Taking the time to review a candidate’s profile is crucial. It not only shows respect but also ensures you are offering relevant job opportunities. Let’s prioritize this fundamental step to enhance the recruitment experience for both parties. It’s incredibly frustrating for candidates to be messaged about jobs that don’t align with their qualifications. For example, being contacted about RN or NP positions when their profile clearly states they are a licensed vocational nurse. Let’s improve the candidate experience by paying attention to these details. #Recruitment #CandidateExperience #AttentionToDetail

Sometimes, I wonder, is some of the nursing shortage created from poor system design in talent acquisition? So many of my connections have reached out after being "lost in the system" when they applied for a job. So many people apply for jobs and are denied based on system triggers, and then if they can find a workaround/are persistent enough, they can make a case. I have done this once for a job I REALLY wanted and got. The other issue is that people who are given offers don't receive them until they have already moved on. If nurses are so needed and in demand, how can you let any slip through the cracks? One connection said he waited for three weeks after the interview before moving on, and after week five, he was offered the position. There are so many hospitals around every area. There are about 35 within 1.5 hours of me. All your hospital slogans and benefits are pointless if you lose applicants from a broken process of bringing people in. For the experienced nurse, it reads unprofessional or unorganized.

Attracting the best nurses requires more than a decent job posting. Because the best nurses won’t see your job postings. They’re not looking for work. Or if they are, it’s only for a few days before they’ve found another job through their referral network. Or they get head-hunted by a recruiter like me. Yet I talk with nurses every day who are excited to hear about new opportunities. At clinics they’ve never heard of. In towns that they’d never considered moving to. But when the timing is right… When someone is looking for a career change… Or wants to leave their apartment & buy a house… Or wants to put their kids in a better school system… Then the right call at the right time can change everything. But for lots of nurses, they’re happy enough where they are to keep going back every day. They’re not spending hours every night searching job boards and applying to jobs. So if you’re not reaching out to them… They’ll never join your team.
