*The end of gambling sponsorship?* Well, if the new code just announced is to be adhered to and properly monitored, the answer is, YES (and good riddance). The code is reported as stating “to protect children and other vulnerable persons, gambling sponsorship must be specifically designed to limit its reach and promotion to those under the age of 18” So… NO sponsor logos on playing shirts; NO advertising around the ground; NO gambling related branding on club websites and social media. Presumably no advertising from share trading apps either then given that’s just fancy gambling under the euphemism of ‘investing’…
