Food security: one of the most basic essentials for sustainable humanity. Identifying food security by two factors: * food production through strategic innovative solutions to address specific agricultural challenges. * sustainability based approach: leveraging strategic methods that are holistically impactful to the environment, people and economy, in the present and in the future. Thank you Peter Hegedüs and team for leading this visionary drive on both fronts. What other way can we revolutionize agriculture?

"The idea with #regeneration is we go to #netpositive. We're not just doing no harm, we're uplifting people who are growing food, we're enhancing #biodiversity, we're capturing #carbon in the #soil and fighting against #climatechange. Regeneration generates new potential and doesn't just get us to sort of like a midpoint of #sustainability. It's actually possible in food in a way that it isn't in other industries. #Food and #agriculture is this incredible opportunity where you can do good, you can add more carbon to the soil than you take out, you can have more life in a place, you can have richer, more delicious recipes and meals and food products coming up than was there before. You can heal degraded land while growing food. So that's why we focus on regeneration." - Ethan Soloviev, Chief Innovation Officer at HowGood, on why HowGood's database is built on regenerative spectrums where food companies can track progress and impact in the world https://lnkd.in/eFTfVAm5 #FiveLifestoFifty

If you missed it, we released a few days ago "Food for Climate: The State of the Sustainable Food & Agtech Ecosystem in Europe," a report co-Authored by FoodLabs! 🌍 Our food system is a major contributor to climate change, accounting for 34% of global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions moreover a growing population are constraining food systems: as the world reaches nearly 9.7 billion people by 2050, we must achieve a staggering 70% increase in food production to ensure global food security. This report delves into innovative food and agritech solutions designed to adapt to a changing climate, mitigate its impacts, and ensure a stable global food supply. Key highlights include: 🍫Cutting-edge technologies like fermentation and molecular farming for the production of alternative proteins, along with ingredient innovation in alternative cocoa, coffee, and sugar production, are replacing high-emission, high-cost products. 🌱With a third of global soils degraded, regenerative practices are vital for soil restoration. In 2023, European solutions in this area raised $581 million, led by biofertilizers. 💡Synthetic biology (Synbio) and artificial intelligence (AI) are revolutionizing the food and agritech sectors by improving efficiency, reducing waste, enhancing data transparency, and promoting sustainability. 🇪🇺 In 2023, Europe accounted for over half of global food and climate tech funding, surpassing the US for the first time. France leads Europe in funding, with other countries also showing strong growth over the past year. Access the full report using the link below👇 Many thanks to Lorenzo Chiavarini, Valeria Do and Christian Guba!

A new blog from European Food and Farming Partnerships. It's About Time. In the global fight against climate change, the role of companies, especially those in the food industry, is under increasing scrutiny. While many are taking steps to reduce their carbon footprint, addressing Scope 3 emissions—especially those stemming from agricultural practices—poses a unique challenge. Compounded by short-term business cycles, food companies find themselves at a critical juncture, needing to prioritise long-term sustainability over immediate gains. It's time for us to shift towards more sustainable practices and embrace innovation in agriculture to secure a greener future for generations to come. Over 71 percent of Scope 3 emissions stem from farming. Only focusing on Scope 1 and 2 emissions is like moving the deck chairs on the Titanic.🌱🌍 #ClimateAction #Sustainability #Scope3 #SupplyChains #FoodIndustry https://lnkd.in/eTkxAXTc

We know that climate change is the grand challenge of our generation, but taking collective, scalable action can be difficult. Why? Often, the “greenest” solutions can seem financially unviable. Neal Gutterson, Groundwork BioAg advisor, Radicle Growth Partner and CTO, and former Corteva Agriscience CTO explores this issue in a recent CropLife editorial. He highlights how our commitment to delivering profitability alongside sustainability is key to the success of Rootella Carbon - our end-to-end mycorrhizal carbon sequestration solution. Read the article to hear more of Neal's insights into the key components of successful agricultural technology adoption and how they apply to our transition from a bioagricultural startup to an integrated carbon company. https://lnkd.in/ddn3RcWf #ClimateAction #SustainableAgriculture #Rootella #RootellaCarbon #mycorrhiza #mycorrhizalcarbon #climatesolutions #carbonfarming Yossi Kofman Dan Grotsky Danny Levy Hanan Dor Bari Ruimy Andrew Duff Inbar Morag

The Meat Industry vs. the Natural Industry Having spent almost a decade in the overlap between the #meat industry and #natural industry, it was hard to find "your" space. In the meat industry, as an #organic humanely raised brand, you are an outlier, a speck against the big four, forced to play by the industry's rules, an unwelcome disrupter. In the natural industry, as a meat brand, you are an outsider, being judged by the plant-based masses and often excluded from the very conversations your input is so valuable in. Regenerative agriculture has made tremendous ground (pun intended) to bridge these once-opposing, and still a lot of the time, groups. The momentum around regenerative is starting conversations between the groups I didn't think I would see. Just this week Anthony Corsaro (AC) and Alisa Knapp have put out tremendous recaps of regenerative brands for #expowest2024. Crossing my fingers to find regenerative a theme in the always amazing Anne-Marie Roerink's #powerofmeat report at #AMC #expowest #amc #NAMI #fmi #regenerative #meatconference
