This requires an embedded NPU core that supports DSP functions, ML processing, and efficient power management, especially minimizing data flow between the device and DRAM. Mixing Apple Vision Pro with sport! Another excellent post by Ultan O. This time on bringing Sport home so we can see the whole picture. I admit I see a stronger use-case in sports like #football, #rugby or #americanfootball. When watching via TV. I often find myself missing the ability to see how the whole team is playing together. The team dynamics as they move and clash with each other. Continuing with the benefits of a Baseband Pool, Nvidia have now pushed even further in the views that an Edge AI solution can execute vRAN L1 FEC very effectively, while doing its “Day Job” of AI Inferencing, Video Analytics etc. https://lnkd.in/epiTZzyP. This view is widely supported, including by the Legacy RAN vendors. So you could replace the legacy TRAN BBU in the architecture with a vRAN version, and deliver AI in small pockets of available energy less than 100 microseconds from the end customer! The AI could analyse the same RF environment viewed from 35 locations, and optimise the performance of the network, serving customers from the correct cells based upon RF coverage and current loading This will need a trial deployment, of course, before it becomes widescale. In the meantime, however, we could deliver a MEC (Mobile/Multi-Access Edge Compute) solution behind the CRAN BBU pool, and deliver Edge services such as Caching to the 35 existing sites. Imagine clicking on any of the Netflix top-10 and it plays out within a second because it’s being delivered from a server 1Km away, connected to you by 10Gbps fibre and 1Gbps 5GSA or NSA?!
