Studies have shown that targeted dementia training for caregivers can improve care quality, reducing hospitalisations and improving client satisfaction. Early intervention can significantly enhance the quality of life for individuals with dementia. By addressing cognitive and behavioural symptoms early, homecare providers can help clients maintain independence for longer and engage in meaningful activities. Emphasising early detection and proactive management can lead to better outcomes and a higher standard of care for individuals living with dementia. (DEMENTIA ACTION WEEK 2024)

🌟 #MeetTheTeam Spotlight: Sharon Jackson, one of our Global Professional Instructors 🌟 This week, we asked Sharon, “What are 3 characteristics of a high-quality dementia care professional training program?” Here’s what she had to say: "3 characteristics of a high-quality dementia care include the following: 1️⃣ Evidence Based: It is important that training is built upon evidence-based models versus opinions. This increases the ability to produce repeatable positive results and achieve your goals. 2️⃣ Practical Approaches, Skills, and Tools: Practical approaches, skills and tools, while based upon evidence and theory, should be easy to understand and apply in a realistic way. They should empower ALL team members to understand their impact and role when engaging with those in their care. 3️⃣ Flexible Training Options: Individuals in healthcare are busy and time and resources are scarce, but quality dementia training is vital. NIH states that quality caregiver training can reduce the behavioral and psychological symptoms in dementia as well as improving caregiver well-being, so we must figure out how to provide quality training in a variety of ways. The good news is Dementia Capable Care training options embodies all these characteristics. We are not about a “quick, check the box” training program. However, we know that your time and money is precious and if you are going to invest those resources, we want it to be a training that can affect those you care for in a positive, results driven way. We are passionate about our calling to help individuals with dementia to thrive, and we know our program can help. If this aligns with your mission and goals – we would love to partner with you." Thank you, Sharon, for your dedication to building dementia capable teams! 💙 Make the choice to invest today and #JoinTheJourney towards building a Dementia Capable Society: https://bit.ly/47qWV25 #DementiaCare #QualityCare #ProfessionalTraining #DementiaEducation

🌟 #MeetTheTeam Spotlight: Sharon Host, one of our Global Professional Instructors 🌟 This week, we asked Sharon, “What are the long-term benefits of investing in dementia care training for organizations?” Here’s what she had to say: "Dementia care training changes how we view a person with dementia so the long-term benefits stemming from that one paradigm shift are many. Now we: ✔️Understand who they are behind the disease enabling us to meet their needs proactively which reduces distress behaviors and use of drugs to control behavioral expressions ✔️Can increase joy and engagement in activities that are meaningful to the person in care and caregivers can have FUN with them instead of just warehousing them ✔️Increase staff retention because team members get to care for people in a gentle way, as if they are their family member, and enjoy going to work ✔️Can avoid negative outcomes such as falls, skin breakdown, weight loss, depression, and staff turnover ✔️Can increase positive outcomes such as increased mobility, increased engagement in ADL and leisure activities, and increased social engagement ✔️Know how to eliminate loneliness, helplessness and boredom in the lives of people with dementia Why does Dementia Capable Care provide these wonderful long-term benefits? Because our training is practical, evidence-based and easily applied in daily practice. Join us in creating a society, where all people, including those living with dementia can thrive." 🚀 Ready to take your dementia care skills to the next level?
