Studies have shown that targeted dementia training for caregivers can improve care quality, reducing hospitalisations and improving client satisfaction. Early intervention can significantly enhance the quality of life for individuals with dementia. By addressing cognitive and behavioural symptoms early, homecare providers can help clients maintain independence for longer and engage in meaningful activities. Emphasising early detection and proactive management can lead to better outcomes and a higher standard of care for individuals living with dementia. (DEMENTIA ACTION WEEK 2024)

💻 Webinar 'How to Support and Empower Caregivers of People Living with Dementia' on Thursday, November 14 🔗 https://ow.ly/Sa6L50TBzXb Caregivers are the backbone of the US health care system, particularly for people living with serious illness such as Alzheimer’s Disease and other dementias. While palliative care goes a long way in supporting these patients, there continue to be more opportunities to optimize how we support caregivers. These range from better integrating caregivers into goals of care conversations and facilitating practical training to prepare for the physical and mental aspects of caregiving in the home, to connecting them with meaningful resources in their communities. In this webinar, CAPC’s Andy Esch, MD, MBA, is joined by leaders from the Alzheimer’s Association and Hospice of the Valley’s Dementia Care and Education Campus to discuss this and more. Together they will share strategies for how to better support caregivers, including addressing some of the structural limitations that can hinder this work. Participants will leave with tools to implement targeted changes that can greatly improve the outcomes of caregivers and patients alike.
