Knowledge transfer is crucial for maintaining continuity and clarifying roles and responsibilities on your research team. That's why The University of Alabama, Birmingham’s Gina Hedberg and Vanderbilt University Medical Center’s Heather Darlin provided a deep dive on the topic at this year's Connect by Cayuse Virtual Conference, sharing their advice on effective knowledge transfer with insights from their own institutions. Read our latest blog summary of their presentation for a breakdown of why knowledge transfer is important and the key steps for developing a proactive knowledge transfer plan: https://lnkd.in/gGZUcnqa

Have you ever wondered how Science Advisory Committees and councils (SACs) and Arms Length Bodies (ALBs) interact with government departments? Well look no further. https://lnkd.in/ezHATRKH This effort will: ▪ Enable transparency - clearly displaying connections between departments and science advisory bodies. ▪ Accelerate training - allowing people inside and outside of government to study and understand the science system in government. ▪ Foster better policy making - giving those working on specific topics to find where relevant science advisory bodies are and expand their range of expertise, and signpost where opportunities might exist for external experts to engage with policy. Post your observations in the comments 👇

On October 9 at 16:00 PM, Danny Claessens will defend his PhD thesis titled "𝗔𝗕𝗖𝗖: 𝗘𝗮𝘀𝘆 𝗮𝘀 𝟭-𝟮-𝟯? 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗮 𝗱𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗗𝘂𝘁𝗰𝗵 𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗽𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀" at Universiteit Maastricht. 💻 Watch the video of the PhD defence ceremony here: https://lnkd.in/exG7rqgB 📘 Link to thesis: https://lnkd.in/eEbdkWgr **𝗦𝗨𝗠𝗠𝗔𝗥𝗬** Implementing change is effortful but worth the effort. This thesis describes the development, validation and implementation of the Assessment of Burden of Chronic Conditions (ABCC-)tool. The ABCC-tool measures and visualizes the burden people experience because of their chronic condition. As such, the ABCC-tool aims to facilitate a personalised approach to chronic care. Bringing innovations to daily practice is challenging but essential for the tool to benefit its users. These challenges lay in understanding the context, user experiences and implementation readiness. In other words, understanding how, where and by whom the tool is going to be used. This thesis highlighted that implementation plans are crucial for effective implementation. These plans should at least include skill-based training, and implementation guidance, and should always be directed at local needs. Both the ABCC-tool and the implementation studies in this thesis stress a personalized approach through assistance and guidance of those in need of help. Supervisors: Prof. Dr. Ir. Constant van Schayck and Prof. Dr. Ir. L. van Dijk Co-supervisors: Dr. Annerika Gidding-Slok, PhD and Dr. Bjorn Winkens #ImplementationOfChange #ABCCtool #ChronicConditions
