I am writing to share my journey and passion for sharing knowledge, which I believe is essential for personal and professional growth. Besides my work, in January 2023, I obtained the Train the Trainer certificate, and since then, I have trained hundreds of employees and students. During these training sessions, I have focused on explaining the essentials and importance of project management, identifying the types of projects that organizations need, aligning them with strategic goals, understanding PMO responsibilities, managing projects effectively, avoiding project failures, managing programs and projects portfolio, identifying the required resources, project life cycle, project KPI’s, project documentations and approvals, etc. One of the most fulfilling aspects of this journey is knowing that my efforts have made a positive impact. It brings me immense joy when someone tells me that they learned something valuable from me. I firmly believe that knowledge should not be kept to oneself; instead, it should be shared openly. Furthermore, when others start to emulate your practices, it is proof of your success and impact. Remember, you can be unique and special by doing things your way, not by keeping knowledge to yourself. The more you share, the more valuable your knowledge becomes. ⭐ Embracing Continuous Learning…how I taught my 7-year-old. Recently, I witnessed the power of relatable learning firsthand. ⭐ While traveling with my 7-year-old son, he noticed stagnant water and asked why it was dirty and smelly. I turned it into a teachable moment. 😊 I explained that just like stagnant water becomes dirty, anything that doesn't move – including our knowledge and skills - can stagnate and become outdated. 😊 This sparked his curiosity, and he readily grasped the connection between continuous learning and growth. ------------------------------------- This experience highlights the importance of using relatable examples to bridge the gap between fixed and growth mindsets. 📢L&D departments and leaders often find it difficult to convince employees or team members having fixed mindset and resisting change. Here are few ways we can overcome this: 📍 Focus on growth, not perfection. ↳It is about constant improvement, not flawlessness. 📍 Make it rewarding. ↳Celebrate learning experiences, even if it involved mistakes 📍 Lead by example ↳Share your learning experiences. Our own commitment to learning is the most powerful motivator. 📍 Microlearning can be mighty. ↳Make learning accessible and bite sized which will help them to integrate learning into their busy schedules 📌 Remember, Empathy is key. Should we be playing video games during work hours? When Bala Murali invited me to join a demo of a virtual teambuilding game, I was apprehensive at first. You see, I've done teambuilding for almost 10 years now. And I kid you not. This game is quite a gamechanger. The gameplay is simple, just click and your character moves. Literally anyone can play it. But boy does this game require learning, creativity, observation, working together as a team, and LOADS of communication - everything you need to be effective at work. At the end, a facilitator brings the team through pretty good reflective questions. After just 1 level with the a team I've never worked with before, I understood the strengths and weaknesses of different team members, we got a good idea of how to communicate better, and at the end, how to have fun as a team. *WARNING* These serious games are seriously difficult. So expect conflict. So yeh, I think everyone should be playing video games during work hours. But not just any game of course. "Learning is not a destination, it’s a journey—and not just because my GPS frequently goes on strike." This quote from Sheryl Sandberg reminds us that the ability to learn is the most crucial quality a leader can possess. Now, I might lack the allure of wizards and magical schools, but I can tell you, investing in continuous learning has been my secret to leveling up in the leadership game. When I first stepped into a leadership role, I had visions of effortlessly guiding my team to victory. In reality, those early days felt more like learning a foreign language... while riding a unicycle. But here's what saved my skin: embracing the mindset of a lifelong learner. Every project, whether successful or off the rails, brought a new lesson. I became a collector of frameworks, strategies, and even constructive criticisms. Yes, while you're tempted to take feedback with a pinch of salt, remember, it's still feedback—less sodium, more solution. Learning doesn't just mean attending seminars or collecting certificates. It’s about listening to my team, understanding new perspectives, and being open to change. Whether it was an innovative idea from an intern or a seasoned colleague's unconventional approach, I made it a point to listen. You’d be surprised how often genius arrives wrapped in unlikely packaging. Continuous learning has shaped my leadership by bridging the gap between "the old way" and "the new opportunities." It’s equipped me to mentor my team better and, quite comically, stay one tech update ahead of my more rebellious gadgets. In conclusion, think of learning as your personal Swiss Army knife. The more tools you collect along the way, the better prepared you'll be for any leadership challenge.
