It's been a real joy putting together our Ticketing State of Play report alongside Bolster Group over the last few years. Witnessing its influence on the industry, especially as event organisers revamp their strategies based on our insights, has been very rewarding. A big shoutout to RISING Melbourne (who were key contributors to our AU report this year) for launching an exceptional 2024 program this week, enhancing fan experiences with flexible options that encourage early sales. Off the back of this success in Australia, we've now launched our Ticketing State of Play: UK & IRE edition! There's heaps in this, and I'd encourage my connections in aus/nz to take a look. We can learn a lot from how our friends on the other side of the world do things. Among the wealth of expertise featured, these quotes from Phil Hayes & John Rostron particularly resonated with what we're seeing in the market here in Australia: 'People ask for refunds in a way they never used to before. It almost felt like the social contract between customers and event organisers had broken down a little bit. Every day there's someone who's just changed their mind and who wants a refund, which is something they've learned from the pandemic.' Phil Hayes &&& 'One in six festivals never came back from COVID, so the impact is still felt. In 2023, there were steps forward but also steps back. There was economic pressure and consolidation, but there is also cautious optimism. The sector is resilient and shows signs of growth.' John Rostron I'm excited to see this edition making waves, with fantastic feedback already flowing in from UK organisers - if you take a look, feel free to hit my DMs to share what you thought!

🎟️💼 What sets Upfan apart from conventional ticketing providers? 💰 New Revenue Stream: Upfan's platform provides new revenue opportunities for organisers. By earning a percentage of secondary market transactions, organisers can generate additional income streams, making Upfan an attractive choice for event organisers looking to maximise revenue potential. 🔗 Comprehensive Ticketing Solution: Upfan offers a holistic ticketing platform that not only facilitates primary ticket sales but also addresses the secondary market. Unlike traditional ticketing providers that focus solely on primary sales, Upfan's platform allows for seamless resale and transfer of tickets, providing greater flexibility and convenience for both fans and organisers. 💲 Better Pricing: Due to revenue from the secondary market, Upfan is not solely dependent on profits from the primary market. Thus, we can offer better pricing than our competitors. 🔍 Transparency and Security: Upfan's ticketing system ensures transparency in ticket ownership and transactions, creating new data from the secondary market and reducing the risk of fraud and counterfeit tickets. This transparency builds trust among fans and organisers, setting Upfan apart as a reliable and secure ticketing provider. Ready to shape the future of ticketing? Follow us for updates, and let's create a world where fans and teams thrive together! 🌍🎟️ #Upfan #UpfanRevolution #TicketingInnovation #YourTicketsYourRules

Here’s the third piece in a series we’ve been working on! We started this because we’ve come across so many misconceptions about dynamic pricing, and we really wanted to help the cultural sector get a better handle on what it actually is. It’s not about making things more complicated—it’s about making ticket sales smarter and more sustainable. 🧠 💡 Hopefully, this helps clear things up and gives some useful insights! #Coldplay ki ticket nehi mila… 🤔 This is the reason I love Product marketing ; never a one-time event—it’s a continuous, ever-evolving process that demands a deep understanding of consumer behavior, market dynamics, and #newopportunities. Whether launching a new product or adapting an existing strategy, staying innovative and adaptable is key to long-term success. This line of thinking brought me to the recent viral memes and discussions about #Coldplay concert tickets and the frustration many faced while trying to secure them. Inspired by this, I wondered if a system similar to the technology used in financial markets or travel industry could be adapted to ticketing. Think of how hotels block money when you reserve a room but only charge the card after you’ve checked in. A similar approach could work for concerts, where fans could reserve tickets, funds would be temporarily held in their accounts, and a lottery-based algorithm technology to be used to fairly allocate tickets. Primarily, fans would be charged for the ticket, but to ensure smooth entry, they would need to show the card or the UPI transaction used to book. This could be simplified using a QR code for event entry, saving time and preventing long queues, while also ensuring the event doesn’t lose out on audience numbers due to technical glitches. However, one challenge that stands out is group bookings. Concerts are rarely enjoyed solo—people go with friends and family. If tickets were allocated like stock market IPOs, with each person receiving just one ticket, it could take away from the shared experience of attending with a group. This is something for large-scale entertainment event companies to consider as they seek innovative ways to improve the ticket-buying experience and enhance customer satisfaction. #EventTech #TicketingInnovation #CustomerExperience #ColdplayTickets #Concerts #EntertainmentIndustry #GroupBooking #FairTicketing #TechForGood #QRCode #Bookmyshow pic: Random meme from web

Three Things I Learned In SaaS, Sports, Tech, & Live Events The Four Tenets of Ticketing - and how Paris 2024 struggled Ticketing is an emotionally charged hot-button topic. We love live events. We're wired to. Ticketing is how we get to see them. As such, ticketing is a highly competitive industry that draws the attention of consumers, fans, and even politicians. This week, I explore the Four Tenets of Ticketing, how they impact the fan experience, and why Paris was a bad experience. The Four Tenets: 1. It is Simple 2. It is Convenient 3. It is Clear 4. It Works Check out my substack for a (maybe too deep) dive into the four tenets and the Paris experience https://lnkd.in/gnt9-Gem
