Thank you, IndustryWeek, for sharing this insightful article. The concept of Lean as a lifestyle choice is truly disruptive. It revolutionizes the way people interact and tackle challenges. Witnessing the positive change in people is both exciting and refreshing. At the Maryland World Class Consortia, Ltd. Lean Peer Group meetings, Dave Rizzardo and I regularly discuss this topic. #lean #leanleadership #industryweek #leanmaryland #mwcc #mdmfg

An important takeaway from Timken's approach to Lean Transformation is that an infrastructure needs to be provided for acheiving a culture change. This has been effectvely highlighted by Robert Schoenberger in a recent IndustryWeek article. What caught my attention is that a Help Chain is required to escalate problem solving based on resolution time by providing technical and managerial support. This itself sends out a message that the organization is serious about continuous improvement! #lean #A3problemsolving

Keeping the momentum in Lean initiatives can be quite the challenge, yet it's absolutely crucial for driving lasting change. In our GSD system, energy stands as the 4th pillar, a fundamental force propelling us forward. As we often say, "You get what you inspect, not what you expect," stressing the importance of active engagement in the process. Now, let's face it, change isn't always easy. Many folks naturally gravitate towards comfort, finding solace in routine. But Lean demands a different approach—a mindset shift, urging us to see, think, and act differently. So, how do we maintain this momentum? Firstly, by fostering a culture where experimentation is not only encouraged but celebrated, sparking curiosity and innovation. Secondly, by providing steadfast support and guidance, ensuring these newfound changes take root and become integral to our organization. How do you keep the momentum going in your Lean journey? #LeanManufacturing #ContinuousImprovement #ChangeManagement #MadeinAmerica

Often our first few attempts at change don’t go exactly as we envision but the results are what’s most important. Every attempt gives us incredible feedback that we can apply towards future attempts. It’s this cycle of improvement that really moves the needle. That said, we must balance our continuous improvement efforts with consistency and our own performance benchmarks so we don’t inadvertently introduce variations into our outputs. What’s a change you’ve been working towards? #changemanagement #operationalexcellence #continuousimprovement
