This is ACO. When we think about orchestral music, composers like Mozart or Beethoven tend to come to mind, along with a long list of white European men. In 1975, American Composers Orchestra was founded to expand that thinking beyond Europe and into America. As ACO continues to evolve, so has their mission. Today, ACO is a leader in identifying and incubating artists who work expands the definition of American orchestral music. Through education, professional development, commissioning, residencies, and more, ACO is a creative accelerator. They work to ensure an inclusive and vibrant future for the field, and include those who’ve been historically excluded from this tradition. ALBC was tapped to help them uncover this story, re-architect their offerings, and upgrade their brand ecosystem to better tell this story. We built a modular identity system that allows any of the three key words (American, Composers, and Orchestra) to be highlighted or interchanged with another translation, pending the context. This yields near limitless options to support the incredible diversity of the music they’re helping to cultivate and amplify. We can’t wait to see the incredible artistic activism they help cultivate in the years to come! #ACOInnovation #RedefiningAmericanComposer #ACOInspiresArtistry #ComposingForChange #ACOOrchestraEvolved #MusicalInclusivity #ACOCreativeCollaboration #FlexibilityInMusic #VoicesOfAmericanMusic #ACOProgress #OrchestraReimagined #ACOCommunityBuilder #AmericanComposerJourney #ACOEducatesInspires #InclusiveOrchestralSounds #ACOConnection #ComposerToOrchestraDialogue #ACOGrowthandChange #OrchestralInnovation #ACOArtisticAmbitions #alittlebetter #bettermarketing #betterbranding #letsmakeitbetter #artisticactivism

The video emphasizes the importance of incorporating fill-in or passing chords in contemporary Christian music (CCM) to personalize and enhance standard worship songs, moving beyond just the basic chords provided in sheet music. I Introduce the concept of fill-in chords through examples like transitioning from C major to A minor using different inversions and chords, demonstrating how this technique can add musical interest and depth to a song. I provide practical tips on implementing fill-in chords, highlighting the importance of stepwise bass movement and avoiding root position parallels in the right hand to maintain harmonic variety and smooth transitions. An exercise is presented to practice harmonizing the major scale with chords in all 12 keys, aiming to build familiarity and ease in applying fill-in chords within a diatonic context, with a downloadable PDF for reference. The video concludes with advanced tips for adding more complex chord movements to CCM songs, showcasing how strategic chord substitutions and inversions can create richer musical textures and emotional depth in worship music. https://lnkd.in/esi4x8jH

Live instruments matter. Always try to include something of a live element in your tracks, whether for underscores or trailers. Why? Because it elevates your music to the next level and makes your track more original. When a VST string library is being made, the musicians try to play all the articulations as perfectly as possible. Yet when a musician plays the music you composed, your music becomes their intention. A musician can give their own sound or flair to your music, and therefore you have something original. And it shouldn't have to be a complete orchestra, just some solo cello (as shown here in the video) over a virtual string ensemble, can do the trick.

Interested in opportunities in media. Broadcaster. Number cruncher. Music nerd. Writer of the best quiz questions. Host and producer - Classical Music Decoded podcast. Presenter: Pre-concert talks for the JPO
Many people are curious about classical music, but are put off by the aficionado’s fixation with the technical aspects of a composition and the arcane language used to describe it. It makes the music seem very academic and inaccessible. Tonight, I’ll present my first pre-concert talk of the JPO’s Early Spring Season. I believe my role is to demystify the music by explaining - in simple language - the musical characteristics, emotional appeal, and where relevant, the history and personal circumstances of the composer; for art without humanity will have no impact. My talks converge on one thing: removing barriers to enjoyment. The pre-concert talk is important. It develops an appreciation for the soul-stirring beauty of classical music. It also builds a bridge between those on stage and those in the audience, creating a shared space of understanding and enjoyment.

✨To the profound praise of Christ in music and in poetry | 🎼 B. M. in Music Composition @ Cedarville University | 📗 Published Poet | Hymnwriter
It was recently announced that Yoko Shimonura's score for Final Fantasy XV was selected as the first video game soundtrack on Classic FM's Hall of Fame for 2024, ranking among composers such as Elgar and Vaughan Williams. Classic FM's Hall of Fame also included John Powell's How To Train Your Dragon soundtrack. This could revolutionize the sound of Western concert music and challenge American preconceptions of media composition. Will classical music reflect the Japanese Neo-Romantic sound that composers like Shimonura advocate? Will more orchestral film soundtracks be considered bastions of classical music from here on out? The future remains to be seen, but I think this is a positive development, reflecting a growing change in how composers write music, how audiences react to new sounds, and how classical music is perceived. What do you think of Shimonura and Powell being recognized as classical composers? #musiccomposition #finalfantasyxv #httyd

I don't do anything half-heartedly. I'm working on a Motown slow jam for a private client at the moment. Delving into a specific era with music production requires a serious level of preparation. What you hear is snippet of the instrumental, but what I hear is... - A #precisionbass set up in the style of James Jamerson (flat-wound strings with a sponge under them, volume cranked all the way up) - A #stratocaster muffled beyond comparison and reverbed generously to emulate a 60's jazz guitar. - A single violin recorded at 1 metre, 2 metres and 3 metres away from the mic to emulate the spatial organisation of a full string section. - A baby grand piano slightly detuned deliberately to emulate the warping of tape/vinyl over time. Getting stuck into a challenge is what I love most about all of the work I do, from social media content creation to obscure era-specific music production. The intersection between those two topics is where I thrive. #musicmarketing #musicindustry #socialmediamarketing
