⚠ Controversial post alert... - Are you guilty of saying you thrive in helping staff grow and develop, but then time ends up being an issue, and they get forgotten about? - Are you taking advantage of your staff unknowingly, with them stepping into an 'accidental manager' role, when they might not be ready? Leadership on Sunday looks a little different. Because on Sunday, I enter a different kind of room. 🚪 In this room, there are no KPIs, SOPs, Guides, Work Instructions, or Metrics. 🚪 In this room, there are no Mid Year and Annual reviews stacked against goals. 🚪 In this room, there are no minimum qualifications to enter. All are welcome. In this room… Leadership looks a little different. But. I’ve learned a lot of things about leadership in here that I can take into the room I enter on Monday. And I’ve learned a lot of things on Monday that I can take into this room on Sunday. Serving in both of these rooms - Well. It’s hard to not see where they intersect. ____________________________________ #leadership #sunday #monday #perspective #servantleadership

Management tip I learnt from McDonald's: Observation stations! Run your shift from an observation station, that is a place where you have the best view of your team’s operations. Doing this enables - you to see what your team is doing, and - your team to see what you are doing! The benefits of seeing others’ work and being seen are four-fold: - you can coordinate your team’s efforts more easily, - you can spot problems as they arise, - your team works harder, and - your team members can easily report to you should they have any issues. At McDonald’s this might look like standing in a place in the restaurant where you can see into the kitchen, the drive-thru, the drinks station the front-counter from just one spot. In other settings this might look like sitting at a desk near your team with a dashboard of KPIs or a kanban board on one of your screens. So as a manager remember this: you need to see and be seen by your team! #Management #Tips #Leadership #Advice

I'm excited to share these insights and discuss solutions in an interactive webinar tomorrow morning at 8:10 AM. If you can spare 45 minutes, I'd love for you to join!
