Sort and Donate: Sandwell is home to a plethora of charity shops. Consider donating items you no longer need. It’s a great way to give back and help those in need. 2. Book Your Tip Slot: If you have larger items to dispose of, don’t forget you can book a slot at the tip through My Sandwell—up to 2 weeks in advance. It only takes 2 minutes to secure your spot. 3. Avoid the Hassle: By booking ahead, you’ll skip the queues and avoid any road blockages. It’s a win-win for your time and the environment. 4. Donate on line: Use sites such as Before the Tip to share your unwanted items. A great way to recycle. Let’s embrace the spirit of giving and make this holiday season even more special by starting fresh. During our last community kitchen event, something remarkable happened. As we were distributing meals, we unexpectedly ran out of takeaway packs. Rushing to a nearby store to get more, we met Olamilekan a food vendor. Instead of accepting payment, Olamilekan chose to donate the packs to us. He was deeply moved by our efforts, something he had never seen in his community before, and wanted to be a part of it. Even if he was selling food , he didn’t feel uncomfortable about us giving out food around him. We salute Olamilekan’s generosity and his willingness to support his community. Now, imagine a world filled with more people like Olamilekan—where sharing and giving back are the norms, and everyone has enough to eat. This vision is within our reach, but it starts with each of us. Be like Olamilekan.
