Are you as a business making the most out of your company page on Linkedin? There seems to be a lot more scope to vastly improve your company page with branding, videos and space for you to shout about your business. Many companies are putting this content on their 'Life' tab. Clearly they've got strong branding teams to support this, but it doesn't mean a smaller business can't make use of the same function. Candidates will often spend a lot of time researching your business during interviews or considering applying, so why not show them what you're about? Another horrible analogy, but think of your company page like your storefront on Amazon. You really want to stand out in a good way! Here are a few examples I've found as a guide to who's making the most of their space on Linkedin: https://lnkd.in/dnaK4kqH https://lnkd.in/dCbRzae6 https://lnkd.in/dCG7BQvQ

If you take 15 minutes and scroll through linkedin.com – you might come to the same conclusion that I have come to. In 2024 the new secret sauce to leadership – do not get offended. Do not react. If I have a client that wants to judge someone’s frequency of job movement, gaps in their resume, the fact they used Aptos versus Times New Roman as their resume font – so be it. My opinion and that of a candidate is NOT as important as theirs’. Full stop. You can be as outraged as you want but how arrogant does someone have to be to believe that they get to control how their work experience is interpreted? We often get blinded by what we want – the job, the promotion – and we often lose sight of the fact that the evaluative criteria of a hiring manager might not correspond with your work history. Are there success stories where an employer has hired someone who was a job hopper? Absolutely. Are there horror stories. Absolutely. My point is that once you define your optimum candidate profile and process, stick to it – do not apologize for it. And if criticism flows from that decision – those are slings and arrows that come with the territory. We are spending far too much time validating the feelings and opinions of others – time that could be spent on process improvement and driving better service and overall culture. There is a downside to social media and internet “reactivism” – we have created an outlet where everyone’s opinion is deemed important. It is not. If someone does not like the meal at your restaurant – and wants to leave a bad review on Reddit – so be it. If you believe in the quality of your food and service and have the full restaurant to prove it, why bother validating them? If you have a great culture and company – and someone on their way out the door visits Glassdoor.com or Indeed.com and slams you – it should not in any way detract from what you have built. If you want to please everyone sell ice cream. Mediocre people do not like high performers and high performers do not like mediocre people. We need to develop a thicker skin and a lens that is pointed squarely at the majority and not the loudest person in the room. Just because someone has a microphone, it does not mean they belong in your audience. [email protected]

In today's competitive job market, building a strong personal brand is more important than ever. A personal brand is a unique combination of skills, experiences, and values that sets you apart from others in your industry. It is the image that comes to mind when people think of you, and it can make or break your career opportunities. LinkedIn is the perfect platform to showcase your personal brand to potential employers, colleagues, and industry peers. As the world's largest professional networking site, LinkedIn allows you to connect with others in your field, share your expertise, and establish yourself as a thought leader. A strong personal brand can open doors to new opportunities, increase your visibility, and help you build a network of contacts who can support your career growth. It also allows you to take control of your online presence and shape the narrative around your professional identity. To build a strong personal brand on LinkedIn, start by creating a complete and engaging profile that highlights your skills, experiences, and accomplishments. Use a professional headshot and write a compelling headline that captures the essence of who you are and what you do. Share valuable content that showcases your expertise, and engage with others in your industry by commenting on their posts and joining relevant groups. Remember, your personal brand is not just about what you do, but also how you do it. Be authentic, consistent, and true to your values, and you'll find that building a strong personal brand on LinkedIn can lead to a fulfilling and successful career.

Creating a LinkedIn profile is a crucial step for professional networking and career growth, and it only takes a few simple steps to get started. Begin by signing up on linkedin.com and filling out your basic details. Once signed up, upload a clear, professional profile picture, then craft a headline that showcases your expertise and industry. Follow this by writing a compelling summary in the “About” section, highlighting your key skills and career goals. Next, add your work experience, focusing on your most recent roles and achievements. Use metrics to demonstrate your impact. Don’t forget to list relevant skills—up to 50—and start connecting with colleagues, classmates, or other professionals. A personalized message when sending connection requests will help build meaningful relationships. Once your profile is set up, make sure to update it regularly as your career evolves.
