I had a fantastic time attending the London TypeScript Community meetup. It was exciting to learn about the latest developments in the TypeScript ecosystem. One of the highlights was hearing about Stricli from Michael Molisani [Stricli](https://lnkd.in/ef7SzFXW), which is a zero-dependency framework for building complex, highly-featured CLIs in TypeScript. It provides a powerful toolset for creating command-line interfaces without the need for any dependencies. I also learned about [Porffor](https://porffor.dev/) by Oliver Medhurst (@canadahonk), which is particularly fascinating. Porffor challenges the typical JIT (Just-In-Time) compilation by doing AOT (Ahead-Of-Time) compilation and taking in TS and Js code directly , resulting in significant savings in both time and memory. I’m looking forward to seeing how this application evolves as it moves closer to production readiness. Another highlight was “ts-blank-space” (that’s not a coincidence), presented by Ashley Claymore, a tool that significantly accelerates the binding, transforming, and emitting processes of TS compilation by adding blank spaces in places of TS keywords by checking out the start and end points of the type annotations from the TS AST, and then just adding blank spaces at those places rather than going towards creating the Js AST and then the sourcemap. Putting blank spaces also had its challenges but they have added edge cases for those issues. This is a significant change for the compiling process. Lastly, I had insightful conversations with industry leaders about how TypeScript is being customised to fit various use cases. 📢 Exciting Announcement! I'm happy to announce the release of graphql-codegen 🚀, my second npm package and a continuation of the graphql-json project. Graphql-codegen builds upon the foundation of graphql-json, which allows developers to create GraphQL schemas at runtime using JSON. Taking it a step further, graphql-codegen uses the same schema but generates GraphQL schema files at compile time using Go. By leveraging techniques similar to those used by tools like Esbuild, Sentry CLI, and Lightning CSS, graphql-codegen ensures efficient and seamless generation of schemas directly from your JSON definitions. Void(0) has raised $4.6 million in seed funding, but that doesn’t mean they’re valued at $4.6 million—this is the amount they’ve raised to build JavaScript, TypeScript, and JSX tools. While I love Vite and its ecosystem, I’m unsure about Void(0)'s business model. The JS ecosystem feels like a complete mess to me. With node modules, CommonJS, npm's distribution model, ESM, TypeScript, and the need for backwards compatibility, everything has become overly complicated. And this isn't even about running JS—it's just to compile TypeScript and JavaScript into JavaScript.
