The Prince of Nigeria ($419B net worth) has been non-stop LinkedIn messaging me for years. I love it. Even though I'd be a fairly small inheritance recipient for them (just $50M), they're relentless in their outreach. He even goes multi-channel with cold email. Here’s what every founder should learn from this prestigious royal family's approach: 1️⃣ - It's borderline impossible to spam your entire LinkedIn network. When your "Hello Dear" messages don't work, simply try new angles like "GREETINGS" in all caps, or use urgent signals like "URGENT BUSINESS PROPOSAL!!!" as a reason to reach out again. 2️⃣ - I know first-hand the Nigerian royal family is big on using engagement signals (profile views, comment likes, prayer emoji reactions) as a reason for outreach. Emojis? The single easiest way to make your message more relevant. 3️⃣ - Short, totally-not-copy-pasted messages will always win. Look at what His Royal Highness writes and how he writes it. It sounds completely spontaneous. Like he's talking directly to me. Like he just happened to have $50M laying around needing urgent transfer. He probably didn’t have a template, but that doesn’t matter: → The bank details request is clean and concise → The entire message is skimmable between exclamation marks → The CTA is fairly soft ("kindly respond with utmost urgency") If the Crown Prince isn't afraid of sending the same inheritance offer multiple times, you shouldn't be afraid to: ✅ Share your unique expertise on niche podcasts ✅ Build real human connections through podcast conversations ✅ Tell your story and provide value that I know you have The key? 🔑 Unlike our the Prince, podcast conversations let you build genuine relationships and share insights that actually help people. Check out the email below... and let me know in the comments what other communication tips I might have missed. P.S. Please kindly respond to this post with your bank details for further discussion. P.P.S. URGENT!!!! Check out Echo Jockey if you want to find, pitch, and guest on podcasts for real conversations.
The letter is almost long enough to be a podcast episode unto itself. Another lesson here could then be to always look for ways to repurpose your content for more than one platform.
I mean, the message says it’s “DEFINITELY LEGIT.” 🤷♂️
Hello dear, this was a fun breakdown of legitimate issues. And will check out Echo Jockey—before the cheque even clears!
This is both hilarious and a brilliant take on persistence and communication strategies! What’s one ‘non-spammy’ approach you’ve found most effective for building genuine connections on LinkedIn?
lmao, this is great. Question though...If Prince Abedayo used Echo Jockey to guest on podcasts...I bet he would find a lot more reliable and trustworthy people to 'investment the fund'...don't ya think?
This is a hilarious take with a surprisingly solid lesson on persistence and outreach! The reminder to keep communication authentic and engaging is spot on — even if you’re not royalty. What’s the funniest or most creative cold outreach attempt you’ve ever received (that actually worked)?
What a hilarious yet oddly insightful breakdown of communication tactics! The persistence and creativity of the “Nigerian Prince” definitely translate to marketing lessons. What’s your favorite real-life example of using unconventional outreach techniques that worked?
Interesting read. I need to study this more. I am very big on podcasts as a strategy.
I love this! I get sooooo many spams every day. So how do you stand out??? Well you are pretty good at this ;)
I help lawyers find freedom & joy by using technology sensibly & strategically😎🌴
5dBack in the early 1990's I got a "STRICTLY CONFIDENTIAL letter from Dr. Kofi Mensah of Congo Uphill Incorporation, Federal Republic of Congo, Import/Export Division. Sending that letter to me (and hundreds of other lawyers, I presume) required a lot of effort. The current class of spammers and scammers don't understand how much easier they have it now. Perhaps they learned from Dr. Mensah and give him proper tribute. I kept the letter from Dr. Mensah and have it framed in my office. Here's a copy if anyone wants to examine it.
