"Let's be very clear: Strong men - men who are truly role models - don't need to put down women to make themselves feel powerful. People who are truly strong lift others up. People who are truly powerful bring others together." - Michelle Obama These words remind us what real strength and power look like. It's not about dominance or belittling others. It's about empowerment, unity, and mutual respect. In a world that often confuses aggression with strength, let's celebrate those who: Encourage rather than criticize Support instead of compete Listen more than they speak Recognize that diversity is our greatest asset Whether in our homes, workplaces, or communities, we all have the power to lift others up. By doing so, we don't diminish our own light - we make the whole world brighter. "A woman who is unusual in her organization faces the same resistance that innovation in an organization faces. So, if you are the innovation, you embody something new every time you walk into the room." We had the privilege of speaking with strategy expert Trish Gorman and social psychologist Malia Mason, faculty co-directors of our Women in Leadership: Next Level Success program, to gain their insights on the advantageous impact that #women in leadership roles have on business. Reflecting on the ‘Women in the Workplace 2023’ report by Lean In, it’s starkly evident that while women are making strides, we’re still facing a significant gap in leadership representation—only one in four C-suite roles are held by women, and shockingly, just one in 16 by women of color. These numbers aren’t just statistics; they’re a call to action for all of us to champion diversity and inclusion in every sphere. This message hit home during a visit to my village, where a young lady saw in me what she dared to dream for herself. It was a powerful reminder that representation matters deeply. To know it’s possible, to believe in a future you can’t see, we need to see leaders who mirror our diversity and potential. Let’s be those leaders. Let’s commit to creating a world where every young girl, regardless of her background, can see herself in the highest echelons of leadership. Because when we lift the veil on what’s possible, we open the door to endless opportunities. #LeanIn #WomenInLeadership #representationmatters

A big thank-you to the Troy Area Chamber of Commerce - Troy, Ohio for taking the time to highlight woman-owned businesses during March. It's an honor to be included in such a stellar collection of talented, creative and brilliant peers. Troy Area Chamber of Commerce - Troy, Ohio Question: How should women support other women in their organizations? Answer: By and large, women have been the underdog in the business world for decades. Men who are bold and assertive are celebrated for their leadership skills. Women who exhibit these same characteristics are often mistrusted and labeled as being too bossy, pushy and ambitious. We can support women leaders in the workplace by echoing their ideas through collaborative efforts. The next time a woman's idea is dismissed because someone believes she pushed too hard or was too loud in voicing her thoughts, put yourself in her shoes for a minute and give her the benefit of the doubt. When the idea works, don't allow someone to say that "it was a lucky break". Support your female colleagues, champion their ideas and don't allow labels to be assigned. The female co-worker that you support and get behind today will return the favor soon. #womeninbusiness, #womanowned, #troyohio, #miamicountyohio, #supportwomenownedbusinesses, #womenownedbusiness, #empowerher
