No matter where you are in Aotearoa New Zealand, it’s necessary to consider, plan for, and manage seismic risk. We’ve published a resource to help commercial building tenants make decisions about the seismic risk of the buildings they lease and occupy. Are you a commercial tenant or do you work with tenants? New resource for commercial building tenants! While no building can be truly "earthquake-proof", some are designed to withstand the force of earthquakes better than others. Commercial tenants are in a really great position to seek out and demand buildings that will provide the seismic performance that is right for their business. Things that tenants should be thinking about when reviewing current or potential future leases include: - Expected life safety performance - Potential for business disruption (both due to structural and non-structural damage) - Potential damage to building fitout. - Disruption due to neighbouring buildings, loss of infrastructure and secondary hazards (like landslides or flooding, to understand overall risk to your building and its use). Understanding these factors and asking the right questions can help tenants ensure their business is prepared for seismic events. Thanks to MBIE and BRANZ for funding this work and making the resource possible. https://lnkd.in/gpadXMne

The primary objective of a spatial strategy is to optimise long-term land protection of natural and cultural assets for future generations. As the consequences associated with mining, industry, environmental risks, and resource scarcity become more apparent, the need for spatial strategies and strategic planning is heightened. Last Quarter we kicked off variability leaching work as part of our Rare Earth Options Assessment – a program of work that aims to identify alternative, capital efficient and nearer term options for producing rare earth elements at the Dubbo Project. If the RE Options Assessment is successful in identifying lower cost, shorter implementation pathways, it will open the potential for a phased development approach, alternative funding opportunities and a focused completion of the FEED services work at Dubbo. The RE Options Assessment work is scheduled for completion in H1 2025.
