The different types of terrible outreach: 1) Assume they have a problem, and you're the solution. "Looking to scale your company?" 2) Assume there is no problem, and just tell them what your solution is. "We have software developers at low rates." 3) Asking to learn more about my business. "I'm looking at your website and I'm really curious to learn more about it." 4) Asking how my day is going / thanking me for connecting. "Hey Bryan, it's been a while since we connected, how's your day going?" All of this is noise. Do you know how many of these responses I've replied to / done business with? Zero. Not. Even. One. It's not my job to tell you my problem. It's not my job to tell you about my companies. It's not my job to tell you how my day is going. Sure, feel free to ask. But with me: you're going to get no response, and if you do it twice, you’ll get blocked. LinkedIn gave people easier access to communicate - and like all things, because it got easier - everyone got lazier/poorer at the craft. Back when you had to actually dial a number, navigate a gate keeper then keep interest on the phone - and gosh, how hard that was - only the skilled survived. These message are garbage. No. 1 is the no. 1 issue for a lot of cause driven ngo's. They go into communities and insult residents telling them they have problems and we have solutions. Then they wonder why they get doors slamming in their faces!

1wThe flip side to easier access to communicate (and I get this from your post) is that the person making the outreach has enormous responsibility in making that outreach. That is, your request to getting a piece of that person's time requires enormous due diligence. Broadcasting Linkedin outreach indiscriminately is social media malpractice. If there were laws against it, it would be a crime.
