Generative AI is changing the advertising industry, and it's time for agencies to embrace the opportunity to transform their revenue model. Value-based pricing, which determines costs based on the value of services provided to the advertiser, could be an innovator in this new era of advertising driven by AI. As the industry shifts towards AI-enabled marketing, it's crucial for agencies to adapt and evolve. By experimenting, testing, and understanding which use cases demonstrate the most value, agencies can calibrate the correct level of investment for their business and align products and services to what clients truly value and need. I firmly believe that value-based pricing tied to realistic factors, achievements, and goals—rather than hype—will be essential for sustainable growth. As we navigate this new landscape, it's important to remember that generative AI is not here to replace us, but to complement and enhance our work. Really good piece from Brian Morrissey on Ad buying in the age of AI. Lots of good takeaways, but here's my favorite: "Clients will slow the adoption of AI tools. One agency executive voiced the familiar lament: clients are often stuck in the past. Well, more to the point, marketing executives at brands have bosses who are still asking about how much is going to brand vs performance (it’s all a mix nowadays) and for reach/frequency numbers in digital.
